Rams Head 10/27.  Avalon Theatre 10/29.
DelMarVa is like half his tour itinerary, either he's adding more legs or most Matthew Sweet fans live here.

Matthew Sweet with the Bottle Rockets was the first show I ever saw at the old 9:30 Club.

My other three there were Wilco, Jeff Buckley, and Grant Lee Buffalo.

West Memphis Three are free!  ;D
How frantically do you think Joe Google'd "West Memphis 3" when that news broke today?

Who cares? All of our retirement funds continue to stink/sink.

It's your fault for putting it in stocks and not in annuities.

I would have loooved to have seen Jeff Buckley :(
My first show at 9:30, I believe, was Guided By Voices w/ Triplefastaction and Cat Power (!) opening.  Unfortunately, we didn't get there in time to hear see her play.
My other 'early' show was The Cranes
Yonder Mountain String Band
10/21
The Darkside

i saw gbv prettty early at the black cat…
I thought the birthday thing he did was supposed to air on NatGeo? Was I thinking of something else?

P.S. Speaking of National Geographic, Locked Up Abroad and Taboo just might be the two best things TV has going for it right now. Although just once, I want to see a Locked Up Abroad where someone from an Eastern country tells the story of being locked up in the West/"developed" world. Every episode I've seen is the other way around and it kind of reeks of ethnocentrism.

Great point. Big fan of Locked Up Abroad too and never thought of it like you just did. I would assume that is because of the conventional wisdom that Western prisons are like say Camp Cupcake compared to the third-world shitholes in Brazil and Venezuela. Although it would be interesting.

Hell, it wouldn't even be that difficult for DISCOVERY COMMUNICATIONS (based in SS, MD) to go out to Dulles or BWI and bust the Nigerians shitting out heroin pellets.
when i saw henry rollins on season two of rupauls drag race . . . i sort of came to the conclusion that henry rollins is a douchey ass.  his frown always machismo is old, as well.
Sebadoh at Ottobar Thursday Nov 10th.  Tickets on sale Friday.

this photo exhibit is indeed something different and unrelated to his spoken-word b-day thingy.  the latter was taped, but i forget if they were going to air it or if this was a 2.16.61 straight-to-dvd production.

the show is about Us, not about Them.  who cares what They go through… we don't relate to Them.  We are all about Us, Us, Us.  besides, as someone who has had issues entering this country, including hours waiting in depressing INS pseudo-detention rooms, i can assure you it won't make for compelling television :)
No, but stories from those who have been wrongfully detained/tortured by the CIA would. Then again, I guess all that torture takes place in places that would be considered third world countries so I don't know if they would count.
Sat. 9/3 at Nationals Park
Lifehouse  :-X
Free after game with ticket
What is weird about that game is it's WMUC fund raising day or something. You'd think they would've gotten a more WMUC friendly band to play after.
