Howard

perfect, didn't want to catch them in April at FSS, now can go to The Howard
$42 is reasonable, does The Howard offer discounts for buying at the box office…or is that only IMP

$8.00 (Service Fee)
$2.50 (Facility Charge)
$3.25 Order Processing Fee

so why is the order processing fee exist if there is a service Fee?
can't believe in this day and age the can charge an extra $11.25 ($2.50 if for Howard preservation fee) to buy something online that you don't even get mailed a physical ticket and not a single human is involved in the transaction

I know it's a scam/monopoly and I just need to deal

side note…how does The Howard stay in business…they get like one has-been show a week?…like that for months on end

Call them to verify but I don't think it's more than a couple bucks to buy from their box office

There are just so many venues I feel a lot are struggling….the Hamilton used to get great bookings

I have a friend that is into NOLA funk/jazz stuff and he loves the Hamilton's bookings.  Not my bag, but I think they've found a niche for themselves.
Wasn't there just a pretty fair kerfuffle between the Hamilton's booker and the venue owner and/or the city? Am I imagining this?
Also if a show doesn’t sell enough the Howard has in the past put tickets on goldstar so I would not buy a ticket right away…not sure if they still do goldstar

Although I can see the allure of going to see Eric B and Rakim

Definitely they have done well with NOLA

It’s a great place….I just see a lot more cover bands on the calendar these days

The State Theatre is now a shell of what it was…cover bands exclusively
Billy Bragg
Birchmere
9-19/9-20/9-21

Songs from different albums each night
Kenny Chesney

Anthem

umm…Mark_read (who is this btw…is this an old poster with a new profile or a genuine new poster?  His comment about the food leads me to believe he's a regular) beat you to the punch with much more detail

In that vein, Billy Bragg three night stand at the Birchmere 9/19, 20, 21 2019

9/19 "Current Career Spanning Set"
9/20 "Songs from the First Three Albums"
9/21 "Songs From the Second Three Albums"

No word if it will be a different menu for each night

Well the Howard started strong upon reopening but has been struggling past few years…I would not be surprised if they received money from DC government

this is a fact, they do receive money from the DC government.

Who is this cousin?  Can you talk him into a matinee show for the over 50s among us?

Fuck yeah - as a lover of anything GBV-related in the extended Pollardverse, I'm there.  That's 2/3 of the Boston Spaceships right there w Moen and Slusarenko.

Their live record is tremendous.

Excellent. Thanks for that information. I can go to a show that ends around then, just not one that starts around that time.  John was amazing at the last show, playing in the crowd and/or having others play his guitar while he whirled around.
