I really like where I live..

First of all I have no idea where she lives but although this may come as a shock to you people generally feel a sense of belonging in the community they live in and don’t turn their life upside down to move across the country to be next door when grandkids come along. People have lives…relationships…roots….

No, Springfield does not suck at all. I like where i live. I can't vouch for *North* Springfield, which is where Dave is from. But it's probably not that different from my neighborhood. I'm just surprised that Dave hasn't put her up in a fancy pad near where ever it is that he lives.

I guess different people have different preferences. Whenever my wife and I talk about retirement, her first and only statement is "it has to be within a three hour drive of wherever my daughter is."

The situation you compared it too may not be at all comparable. You are citing the example of athletes that sign big contracts and use some of the money to lift their family out of poverty.

After posting, that's exactly what I thought. Dave's sister must still live in the DC area. Out of curiosity, I googled.

Lisa Grohl is Dave’s older sister. She resides in Sherman Oaks, CA. Lisa practiced music in her young years too, but according to Dave’s words, she was interested in other directions. From time to time Lisa is mentioned as a bass guitar player at Foo Fighters recordings.

Maybe we're just assuming his mom lives in Virginia because of her name. Maybe she doesn't live here at all and actually lives in California. Maybe Dave is flying here for something else other than visiting his mom.
