they are often mentioned with all the other Elephant 6 bands, so same kind of sound, but for some reason they just never won me over like Beulah, Elf Power, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc…

I cut that from their webpage -whattya expect from a bunch of redneck southerners ;)
unconfirmed date for the Pernice Brothers/Long Winters show is April 15. No venue announced yet…and no mention whether Bigger Lovers are on the bill.

So anybody know what the deal with the Richard Buckner show is? Does that mean he is playing with the people listed or just putting his stamp of approval on them. Do Freedy Johnston and Dale Watson really need his help?

man, if you need freedy johnston to help you. . .

bettie serveert at 3 in the afternoon? i hate those 3 pm shows.
You gotta believe it's some kind of playing together type spontanous duo deal.

Same question could apply to Steve Forbert; he's been around for 25 yrs.

so anybody know who Tandy is then? I am looking to go to the 3/9 show.
Sorry, don't know anything more than allmusic says.

I think I'd pick either the Freedy or Dale shows, but am passing on both, having already seem both, and Buckner as well.

Foundation - 3/18 Velvet Lounge

Does anyone know anything about this band? There used to be a DC band called Foundation back in the 80's. I was wondering if it's them.

allmusic lists several Foundations, including one that appears to be Richmond-based. My guess is that's the one playing. Anyone know for sure?
The Star Spangles - 4/8 @ Velvet Lounge

6/5 Rev. Horton Heat with the Detroit Cobras and Mr. Airplane Man, 9:30 Club
Excellent band. I saw these two open up for Morphine years ago at the 930. They played mostly blues standards and then pulled off a mean version of I Wanna Be Your Dog.
