I'm trying to get out there for the Flaming Lips @ Bimbo's show…that will be killer.
Would I be correct in assuming the U of R commons is outside? I get the impression this is an area like Shafer Court at VCU. If so, I guess the possibility of a sellout is nil.

No, sir. The Tyler Haines Commons is in fact a building. If U of R is holding an outdoor show, they typically do it at Greek Theatre they have on campus.

If they are doing this in the same ballroom in the commons that they had Nada Surf a few years back, it holds around 400-500 people. Sadly for out of towners, I'm sure the "advance ticketing" will be something local like the campus bookstore or Plan 9 Records. If you're wanting to go, let me know, I'll see if I can work something out to pick up extra tickets and mail them to you or something like that.
Thanks for the offer, I'll most likely take you up on it. I have a friend who works at Plan 9. I'll see if he has any info about an on sale date and if he can get a couple of tickets.

did anyone else read that incredibly disturbing article about crazy right-wing kansas senator and presidential candidate sam brownback in the latest rolling stone?

one of brownback's good friends and fellow church-goers is kerry livgren, guitarist / songwriter for Kansas, i should have figured the songwriter for Kansas would be a born-again

Thanks for the reminder! And you just got WOXY a paying member. What the hell, for the first few months so maybe they can get going.
Some band called Morningwood is doing an instore at the Puma store in (Georgetown?) DC on 2/15. Aren't they a Smackie favorite?

I just bought tickets to this…can't wait.

The seating close to the stage is going quickly.
just got mine as well..im hoping he'll play with a band.
Tickets are now on sale for a bunch of the recently announced Black Cat shows: Wolf Parade, Hard-Fi, Annie, etc. The Cribs show isn't on sale yet.
Lee Perry's upcoming tour that spans next week (crossroads and sonar) has been cancelled for what appears to be some bullshit reason. From dub is a weapon's (opening band) drummer:

Hey everyone, we just recieved news that Scratch could not get his visa or there was some sort of problem with it and basically the tour has been cancelled.
This has definietely come as a shock to us since it was so close to when we were supposed to leave and we had a lot of time and money invested in the tour.
WE ARE STILL PLAYING AT BB KINGS IN NYC ON MONDAY NIGHT!! It will be a free show and will featured 2 sets of Dub is a Weapon, so not all is lost I guess.
I hope to see everyone soon.

If this show weren't on a Tuesday, I'd definitely be up there. Here's hoping they announce some more US dates.

Yeah, I wish I could go to that show. The record label said the March dates are one-offs in connection to SXSW. But they also promised the band will be back soon for a tour. Can't wait!
