Big Yawn said they throw a couple in. I guess Tamar is one of his new proteges, so it's mainly a showcase for her.

Anyone heard these chaps? I really, really like the album, especially the instrumentation.

i was supposed to see them in austin with explosions in the sky/modest mouse, but we didn't get there til after their set was over. i was planning to go to this show originally, but i'm now going to be in NYC for the flaming lips, so… i guess not now..

Yes, I know the Insurance City, without having the multiple degrees. I haven't seen the full tour dates but are they playing at the New England Dodge Center Music Corporate Sell Out Shed? I can help with info, what would you like to know?
arlette,

as far as the dodge ram tough amphitheatre goes, i see that it is about 1mi. from the 2 big downtown hotels (hilton and crowne plaza). can i walk to it, like i would like to do, or do they have some kind of ground transport to and from, or is it one of these places where everyone waits in a mile long line in their cars just so they can park it (see nissan, but the line is more like 25 miles)?
You can walk from both but the Crowne Plaza is much closer. About a 15 minute walk. Any of the downtown hotels would be about a half hour walk. Crowne Plaza is on the outskirts of downtown and gets booked up really quickly for shows, so if you want a room, make a reservation ASAP.

Parking/driving is horrendous. The venue is very close to all on the on and off ramps for the major highway through Hartford, so usually, the concert traffic gets mixed up with the commuter traffic. If it's a weekend, you shouldn't have any problem.
Pinback @ Black Cat Friday May 12th.

Hopefully, I'll make it to see them this time!

Re: Silver Jews. I heard that the lineup wasn't announced yet. From the news on pitchdork this morning,it doesn't look too promising for Malkmus to be included.
pitchfork's "news" was taken directly from a drag city e-mail. that's some ace reporting! i don't know the details of the full lineup, but i'll stand by my statement of malkmus being there.
Tour starts tonight, but I still haven't seen any confirmation that Malkmus will be onboard. Anyone know for sure?
yeah he won't be there. sorry to get people's hopes up. he's a pussy. i don't wanna be a lame name dropper, but berman told me he'd be there a while back, then he backed out. whatev. it'll still be great. i'll be at charlottesville, new york (x2), philly and b'more. there was actually a not-so-secret warm up show in nashville a few nites ago. read about it.
If I'm not mistaken, their drummer is also the touring drummer for Bobby Bare Jr.

yeah, i'm pretty sure that's the case. bobby himself sang a bit on the new record. did anyone see bobby when he came through at iota a few weeks ago? that was a damn fun show. a little unnecessarily jokey/sloppy, but when they got down to business, it was good times.

That's a bummer. Oh well, I'm still excited - should be a great show. But it just seems wrong that Malkmus won't be there…
I can't wait for this show!
