Just Announced

L&R opening with only 11 songs would have kinda sucked..particularly in daylight….

But at least it would have been something
They should do a triple bill with L&R, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy

I wonder (no pun intended) what the setlist will look like. His 2007 show stands out as one of the best concerts I’ve ever experienced

I saw him once and it was fantastic but I feel it’s the kind of thing you only need to see once. Even met him after show. This was at Warner Theatre probably like 15 years ago.

I still love Eat it. I can believe Prince denied him permission to parody one of his songs. Weak.

Funny thing is permission isn't legally necessary; fair use allows for parody. But Weird Al was the king of the game and very rich from it. Getting permission was his way of covering his ass if the original song writer thought he went to far. Fair use tort is civil and potentially very expensive for both parties.

Another funny thing I learned a few years ago: parody doesn't mean funny. It's simply replacing the words of an existing song while using its music, a standard practice in folk music for centuries (The Star-Spangled Banner is an example).

Class dismissed.

Thank you professor 🧑‍🏫 !!

I suspected he didn’t need permission but wanted it as his standard practice.
