i'm never sure anymore, if i'm just old because i know who so many bands/solo/dj/compact trifectas are by their names . . . or if they're just too cool and underground for me to understand. either way, i look horrible.

Really? they've had all that too? I know they had Shpongle back in September, but didn't know about all them. i never really follow the venue at all. interesting.

I think the venue is awful, you have to be right in front of the DJ if you want a look at him/her and the sound isn't the best. It has a really odd lay out. It's like a cleared out sports bar and really dark…..at least when I went, I hadn't heard of the place when I went to go see Kill The Noise, but since then they've had Steez Promo go in and bring people.
last time i saw bardo pond was about 98 at the lounge ax..
what are they like now?

I've only been to one show at that place and that was to see the Flobots. Other then that I have missed some bands that i wanted to see there. Deerhunter, Portugal the Man, Attack Attack, Xiu Xiu, RJD2 and Matt & Kim. It's an ok place just like DFA said it's a dump but it's ok to me ;D
I've only been there once, and that was to see Deerhunter/Casino vs Japan back in October. Good show. The venue was alright, the sound was alright, though I'm not much of a sound person.
Well, when you're seeing a DJ do a set, it's kind of important. If the bass is off then it throws off the set. I'm not a huge stickler for sound, but for DJing I think it's essential. Regardless, I'd pass on shows there. Massive in Baltimore looks better and Bourbon St is 10 fold better than Canal.
Bardo Pond back in DC - finally!!!

and we care because…?
if PF gives the album a high score, haters will use that as proof that RH has sold out. if PF gives it a bad score, they'll use it as vindication for their own dismissal of the album (without having heard it, of course). and if PF gives it an meddling/average score, the haters will use it as proof that both PF and RH are irrelevant.
there, now you don't have to read the review.
Not sure if this was already announced but a third Cake show (on that Saturday) is on the pollstar books.
