Just Announced

Neon Trees and Switchfoot announced for the norva today…

It is unfathomable how bad their booking has been this year.  I just got down to southern VA in late 2010, but there was decent shows mixed in to this garbage.  This year has been terrible.

Isn't this the same company as The National who does a pretty nice job?

I need to move.
yep, same company.

it's unfortunately the market that's in the tidewater area. and while I will say the NorVa has a bunch of garbage on their lineups, they did manage to get Adam Ant, and The Cult. both of those, especially the former, are pretty solid bookings.

i can't say i'm looking forward to anything the Natl has coming up, but its not necessarily garbage.
The National has St. Vincent coming up, and I enjoyed the Michael Ian Black show and should've seen Childish Gambino. I live a few miles from the NorVa and it's a shame how bad the bookings have been lately. At least they had Interpol there in 2010 and the Civil Wars in December.

Childish Gambino was rescheduled so you still might be able to catch his show
;D
on the topic of good Natl shows, just announced:

Yeasayer
6/19
The Natl

Blind Pilot
6/6
The Natl

and yes, Childish Gambino date is rescheduled to July 29.

The National's a great venue, but I haven't been there since Wilco played. I was hoping they'd book a bunch of bands I like (I don't get how they missed out on the Truckers this coming go around, and I really wish they'd managed to reschedule that Christmastime MMJ show from a few years ago) before I graduate from VCU and leave town, but it hasn't happened. Shame, because I've enjoyed the venue all the times I've been there so far.

Norva does seem to have a worse lineup though.
we had the Truckers on back to back nights in Halloween 2010. they'll be back soon enough.

That won't be a 930 show, that's for sure.

yeah I know. i was at night 2. i've just gotten way more into them since then so i've selfishly wanted them back at the national. this is now two separate norva shows since that halloween set at the national. i've got about a month left in town, so soon enough better be damn soon  ;D

petty complaint, but what's the internet for. without the national there'd be no chance of relatively big names playing club shows in town, so for that i appreciate it.
