Just Announced
FYI: for shows at the R'n'R Hotel you can buy advance tickets at TicketAlternative for cheaper than via Ticketmaster - very low service charges. just bought 4 for Stellastarr, saved $20. tix for Mono on 5/15 go on sale 1/12.
The Rock n Roll Hotel is adding shows like nobody's business. Sunset Rubdown on May 2 is the latest. Why oh why couldn't they have gotten Sparklehorse?

Wish I had known Jason (Ringenberg) was playing Iota that night. We already have tickets to Ron Sexsmith at JJ. Though I'm sure my wife would pick the Sexsmith show.
You and Jason are on a first name basis, eh?
Well he was the leader of Jason and the Scorchers, and put out his first solo record under the one named moniker "Jason".

No one's mentioned this one, though.
Benjy Ferree
Black Cat
Fri, Jan 19
His debut is brilliant, I'd really love to see him. Unfortunately, that's the same night as Asobi Seksu. :( It's also the same night as the Thursday / Murder by Death show. I don't really care about Thursday, but Murder by Death kick ass live. I briefly considered seeing them and then trekking over for Benjy, until I remembered about Asobi Seksu. :/

Is Benjy Ferree the guy who opened for Comets on Fire and Sounds of Kaleidoscope? I hope so. His set started out terribly, but once he got a band with him, it got really good.
Cold War Kids playing 9:30? That's gonna be a shit-show. I like their record, but I think this is a classic case of playing somewhere way before they're ready. I mean they just played Black Cat backstage. CYHSY's show last March anyone?
did anyone catch the cold war kids play the black cat?

good christ i remember seeing PWTs play in someone's living room and have to bum gas money to get home… wow.
I believe the Cold War Kids and Midlake were the Black Cat openers for Sound Team back in the Fall. Now both the openers have probably exceeded the headliner.
The Cold War Kids headlined a great night of music at DC9 as part of last yearâ??s DAM! Fest. The placed was packed, but it wasnâ??t a sell out. I think 120 something paid. They were really good, but I would be VERY surprised if they even pulled in half full club without some serious support. I guess it could be a second show of the night type thing, $10 or something…
