any of these bands worth seeing?

this is a question for killsaly & azag.  the belmont bandstand is hosted by Ardamus, so there's that.
There are a couple of artists I wouldnt mind seeing, but only a couple. The Ardamus bandstand thing would be cool, and Paperhaus plays… But thats about it. I would only go to this if I lived in the neighborhood and could just walk over to it.  That isnt to say that some of the other bands wouldnt be enjoyable, just a lot of "who knows" on that line up.

Why do bands use the letter V for U?

Probably because there are already Adult. and Adults as bands.\

Just a way to have a name that is easy to google I suppose (same with other alternative spellings).  IE Waavs instead of Waves.  DIIV instead of Dive.  BLVCK CEILING instead of Black Ceiling.

Its just a throwback to Latin, where the letters are interchangeable.  Other languages Call W (translated) Double V instead of Double U.

Or they are just trying to be difficult.
or they are just a bunch of art fags who work at hardees.  if they want to moan, they'll have to moan alone.

I think you are right about other bands having the same name.  I think Chvrches said that is why they did it.  But you know what?  Just come up with a unique name.  Shouldn't be that hard.

Combine a city and a country.  "amsterdam new guinea" for example would be a unique band name.

Did Sunshine District not survive?

My understanding is that they are still available as a listening space (haven't checked their facebook page recently to know that, but I assume the venue still has all the turntables/etc. that they purchased).  They did not have the appropriate permits to have live shows, so all concerts on their schedule were either cancelled or moved to other venues.  Dave Mann's primary focus now seems to be on TallyFest, not on booking individual shows.
He might want to keep his focus… Also I thought his fest for the year was supposed to be scaled back… Seems to be similar to other years.

No, it always seemed to me to be the same scope (multiple venues, multiple showcases, etc) as the STPPFest, just moved to Leesburg i/o DC.
