I'd prefer them in my living room (but not too loud)

That tour was great - even if they were stripped down as a four-piece w Leroy Bach.
Was living out West and caught it at Fillmore, Warfield and GAMH (a contender for favorite show).

That Evening with Wilco show at Strathmore in 2010 was so good. Like so very good.

great American music hall?!
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/wilco/2003/great-american-music-hall-san-francisco-ca-2bd2e4ae.htmldang that's a small venue for 2003
Edit…for some reason was getting GAMH mixed up with bottom of the hill…GAMH was a typical size venue at that time

My favorite Wilco shows were the two night runs at the Club in 05 and 08 and the 04 show a week or two before "A Ghost is Born" came out… Some of the best music of my life in those times… and then, well… I don't know.
I still have a vivid memory of a very plump, bloated Tweedy wearing a cowboy hat under blue lighting on the stage in 2008. Came out and just crushed Sunken Treasure. Goose bumps were had.

I hate to be that guy but I liked them before YHF and before they shitcanned Jay Bennett. AM/Being there/Summerteeth/Mermaid Avenue and Mermaid Avenue 2
And my favorite Wilco show (and a top 10) was when they had Old 97s open and you could still put your beers on the stage at 930 and Buds where $3 ( ok the price I am not 100% sure) and 15 of my friends showed and we were right in front of Jay and we had 20 empty’s on stage
I hated the direction they took with YHF (Wilco wanting to be stereolab..sad) and will never get over how badly Jay got the shaft..they even made a movie called “How Jay got the shaft” and people love it… how the fanbase deleted Jay from their memory banks is disturbing

I can't compete with your vet status of seeing them in the 90's, however, I did like them then… They were just a rock band though IMO, still great but not all that interesting. YHF >> Ghost was just such an amazing combo of albums. Bummer about Bennett but he was a prick, just like Tweedy. They weren't good for each other and someone had to go.

Not sure if they're my favorites, but my first two Wilco shows:
June 12, 1995, the original 9:30 Club. Plenty of Uncle Tupelo covers.
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/wilco/1995/930-club-washington-dc-73dd2629.htmlOctober 31, 1996, The Ritz, Raleigh. Coheadlining gig with Squirrel Nut Zippers on Halloween night. Four of the five band members wore dresses (all except Tweedy.) It was not a pretty site.

This is the correct Wilco take minus whatever Mermaid Avenue is. YHF is the last listenable thing they did, not the start of something good.

I specifically recall not seeing Jay Bennett at the 1995 9:30 show.
A better question was who *was* playing with them….I believe it was Jeff, John, Ken Coomer, Max Johnston, and maybe Brian Henneman (also of the Bottle Rockets.) Wiki helped me a bit with this. It's been a long time.
As an aside, I also recall seeing Brian Henneman and the Bottle Rockets open for Matthew Sweet at the 9:30 (and blow him away, imo) in January 1994. Good times.

I wish I had been at iota! How was it!?
Good show. No idea if Jay was under the influence of anything. My wife was a big Jay fan. Not that one has to choose sides.

How can you say Sky Blue Sky is not listenable? It's probably their most listenable album. Some (not me) would argue too listenable.
Also, I initually found A Ghost is Born to be unlistenable. But over time, it became one of my favorites. Probably second or third, behind Being There and maybe Summerteeth.
