Any idea how tickets will work for this?

Does one just have to show up early and hope to be one of the lucky 150 that get in?

That is good news. Been dying to see them live. Their first album was excellent. Can't wait for the new one. Aren't they like a nine-piece?

The Aquabats- 6/7- Nation

This makes me sad. The Aquabats put on such an amazing live show, and they have to play at a venue as awful as Nation. I wish they could play the 9:30 or the Black Cat… :(
This is with Aggrolites and Whole Wheat Bread.
Aggrolites yay, WWB bleh.

This is great news. Any info on whether it will be with his Guitar Orchestra or his String Quartet?

I'm not sure, I'm trying to figure it out. Once I know, I'll pass the info on.

actually, I kinda hope its neither……its great to have seen him with the guitar orchestra but with so many great musicians on stage it just led to each song being drawn out for 10 minutes in order for everyone to get their moment in the sun

go with a regular 4 piece like he did at Iota a few years ago before his collapse
It's not the orchestra, and it's not the string quartet. But I doubt it'll be the 4-piece either.

The 2 performances I saw in Austin were Alejandro plus violin, 2 cellos, acoustic guitar, keys/computer, drums. One performance had bass, one didn't. Both shows were stellar.

The new material has strings on it so I expect he'll bring at least some of the quartet with him, and there are some keyboard and electronic sounds so I'm sure that'll be part of his presentation as well.

I think I've seen people selling tickets to this on campus in Red Square this week. I'll check again tomorrow.

Phew. I missed him about four times at south by and numerous times here.
Looks like Son Volt is touring with Drive By Truckers out here, no East coast dates yet
HFStival @ Merriweather May 27th and 28th.

Bands to be announced next Monday.

If they have a lineup like last year in a venue not conducive to moshing idiots, it could be pretty good.
Jon Auer, most notably known for forming The Posies as a teenager, will be pounding the pavement soon in support of his brand spankin' new solo release. His new album, Songs From The Year Of Our Demise, hits stores on May 2 via Pattern 25 Records and was written about divorce. Sound bitter? According to Jon, the album took close to five years to complete. Now, it is finally your chance to catch some of the "new" stuff live.
