Just Announced

In California, if there is a line up change or time change, people are given refunds if they choose to. Maybe that should be 930 Club's policy.
[/QB]damn, every time with you.

why do you always have to be so damn know itall every single time someone makes one little bad comment about the club.

so, someone buys a ticket to a show, thinking , like most shows, band goes on at 9:30 or so, then finds out they go on at 7pm. he has a right to be upset, in fact, people have the right to be upset for ANY reason. I live in Baltimore and if i had chosen to buy a ticket, i would have to take off work early to get to the show.

going to bed early? what a stupid reason, shadrach. as is "oh i'd just buy tickets for both shows" i know for one, i cant afford to do shit like that.

and yes, the 930 Club did this. this was their decision, not Sonic Youth's. and while the second show will probably make more people happy than angry, its bound to put a couple people in a crappy situation.

ever heard that , "you can't please everyone" saying. well, its true, so dont be surprised when sometimes you hear from the one(s) you didnt please. its not like he said he was never going to the club again. jeez. [/QB]

Well I'm far from a know it all, but I may have a little inside knowledge being that I work for 9:30.

And as far as people complaining, they have every right, just like I have every right to address those complaints. People will always find something to complain about; the show was too late, too early, too loud, too quiet, too long, too short, they didn't play enough old stuff, they played too much old stuff, it was too crowded, too empty and on and on and on.

We really try to make as many people happy as possible and the fact is that you can't always make everyone happy. You've got to break a few eggs to make an omelet… whatever cliche you want to hear, there's plenty that apply.

As a whole I think we make folks happy far more than unhappy and that's why people keep buying tickets and coming back.
Some more iota shows:

SA 6-17 TOMMY KEENE
MO 6-19 THE BOTTLE ROCKETS W/ BOBBY BARE JR
TU 6-20 THE BOTTLE ROCKETS W/ BOBBY BARE JR
I might have to make my first Iota appearance in ove a year for one of these. Though I don't think I could pay my wife enough to see the Bottle Rockets again.

that would be real nice but i doubt its gonna happen. yes, goldenvoice does refunds for all their shows. and that's why we live in DC, and not California.
if i have a ticket for the early sonic youth show where can i hide in the club to see the 2nd show for free?
how much variation will there be between the two sets? do they actually empty the club out and then let peopel back in? also, is it just SY playing the second set or is the opening band gonna play too?

Probably not a whole lot. It depends on the artist. Some artists play very different set lists from show to show. Most don't. I've never seen Sonic Youth before, so I don't know what SY's tendencies are with regards to set list variation.

Yes.

I expect the full line-up will play both shows. That's the way it's worked in the past. It's not a second set; it's a second show. They just happen to be on the same night.

Sonic Youth usually plays most of their current record with about 4 or 5 extra songs from other records thrown in. I'm assuming for the 2nd show, it'll be mostly the same set with 3 or so changes.
I live in the DC area because I'm happy in my job; not for the reason you state.

i dont get it. We live in DC because California gives out refunds?

that makes negative sense.

i didn't mean it in that way, sillies.
it was more along the lines of…we live in DC…rather than California…and thus we have no Goldenvoice-awesome-ticket scheming…i guess i should rephrase…
Is the Sonic Youth issue really about wanting a refund or being upset that it didn't turn out the way you had envisioned it?

I'm inclined to give refunds to those that want them
Something tells me that after all that crying no one will take you up on that refund offer.

i would've if i had bought tickets. because i cant make early shows in DC, actually.

i dont think anyone ASKED for a refund though, i think one person said "i hate when the 930 club does this" and i think everyone flipped out.

the rest was either him defending himself or others defending the club, i dont recall anyone asking for one in the first place?

With Sonick posting for me, I guess I'm feeling a little superfluous around here. But thank you, Sonick, for defending me earlier and again in the above posting. I was just going to ignore Shadrach's somewhat condescending response, but you did a better job in replying to that than I could have anyway. I don't want to get into it with the club staph. The 9:30 Club is my favorite venue. That's why I stick around here and that's why I attend ~20 concerts per year there.

Anyway, I don't want to make a big thing out of it. I very much appreciate Seth's offer of a refund. I think that should be standard club policy whenever there's a change in the time of a concert. I'll certainly consider taking the refund over the next day or two.
