Just Announced

I meant freebie shows that feature nationally touring rock acts or renowned international acts.

The Millenium Stage typically features the guy who plays bluegrass at Madame's Organ on Wednesday, and other acts of that talent level. Not to mention various boys choirs from around the world.

Why do so many cities seem to have all kinds of freebie concert series and DC has NONE?

Yup, it was the Cranberries. The concert was at like noon on a Thursday at that little ampitheater over by the Washington Monument. There were major crowd control issues.

I was in highschool then and I remember a bunch kids sneaking out of school to go down there. Our school disciplinarian was camped out down at the East Falls Church Metro intercepting kids on their way to the show.
I was at work, wishing I had gone…I think Toad was with them as well. (I think Dolores got all miffed over the crowd issues too. Didn't she walk off at the end..?) There were about three other lunchtime outdoor shows prior to that…No more after.
In the 90s there were also summer shows at some outdoor ampitheater sponsored by Wash. Post. Nothing good since the 90's, not even a an Earth Day show. Even shows that weren't free were cancelled last year due to "lack of ticket sales".
Rhett is right, there is nothing!
Off to the Hey Seth thread to ask for shows in the 9:30 parking lot…or, Seth needs to be the Trump of DC and buy some land.

Yes, that was it.
I think the Freedom Plaza show was the Cranberries show?
Weren't there some in Roslyn too?

Can someone hit me up at davenportkillah@yahoo.com with the info?
