I saw The Fray at DAR, and was incredible disappointed (which has since made me much less a fan). The crowd was mainly teen girls and couple in their twenties and thirties. No enthusiasm at all from the band, and very weak vocals. They seemed to just be sitting stationary for over an hour. On the other hand, The Feeling who opened were pretty darn good. Actually had some people wishing that they had headlined and all.

I would go to see OK Go, but there is no way I wanna sit through The Fray again.

If you liked The Feeling, they are going to be at the 9:30 on April 9 opening for Mat Kearney.
Was thinking Jaxx was mostly people from Front Royal, Winchester, Spotsylvania, etc :)

Steny, did you just crawl out from under the same rock you referred to in the Lily Allen post a few weeks ago? I am not a fan of The Fray, but come on, they are all over the tv and all types of radio stations.
If it wasn't for this board, I would have no idea who The Fray, Lily Allen or any number of other popular acts are. I apparently don't watch the TV shows they're featured on and I rarely listen to the radio. It's really not hard to believe that someone outside of their target market might not hear them. I couldn't tell you anything about 80% of the bands currently on 9:30's show list.
Ditto. Well except for Lily Allen since she's been getting a lot of play on just about every Sirius channel for the last six months now.

In other news:

SUN JUNE 10- ELECTRELANE, TENDER FOREVER $13 mainstage 8:00 (on sale Feb. 23)

WED JUNE 13-
VOXTROT, FAVOURITE SONS, AU REVOIR SIMONE
$12 mainstage 8:00

I really like what I've heard off that new Au Revoir Simone album.

That is exactly what I'd expect a Fray concert to be like.
I saw The Fray at the NorVA last year having never heard them before. I went because The Damnwells, a band I really like, were opening. Needless to say I was quite taken aback by all of the enthusiastic teenagers who were there, not having realized that The Fray had achieved some popularity with the MTV crowd. When they all began screaming hysterically at the beginning of "How to Save a Life", I correctly assumed it to be their single. They were actually pretty decent, though.

The Damnwells kicked ass, though I'd wager money that I was the only one there who had ever heard of them. And I doubt they were very well appreciated by that audience.

Also, depending on the show, Jaxx often draws in people from all over the place. Some of the bands that play there only do very small North American tours, and in those cases Jaxx is usually one of the only stops on the whole east coast. People drive to Jaxx from pretty far away for some of those shows. And it's usually a rather diverse crowd (also depending on the show, of course).

I'll bet you're the only person in any audience who appreciates the Damnwells. :)
The same "record label" that broke bands like John Mayer, Five for Fighting (who is imo the closest to the Fray), Train, etc, broke The Fray (Aware Records).

Go ahead blame me for it. I really like "Over My Head". :D

But much like an FFF show, a lot of younger (think 15-30) and MTV kids, then the kids from Myspace that think they're hot shit just b/c they know people.

.. Come to think of it I worked with OkGO when they were small fries too. shit.
Anyone know if Au Revoir Simone is playing with Voxtrot at the Ottobar as well?
Au Revoir Simone is with them for a lot of the tour, and in Baltimore.
Jammin Java…

Saturday March 3 10:30pm $8 rock
Apollo Sunshine + Exit Clov + Surprise Arizona
I'd like to have sex with Au Revoir Simone
I was planning to see beach house that night but this looks tempting.

Nice to see another local show for Exit Clov. I'll probably stay for the show since I'll be at Jammin' Java for Glen Phillips, who is performing at 7 pm on 3/3.
Oh my.

Pere Ubu
Sonar (Club Stage)
Apr. 8
Fuck. I get back into the country that night, plus I don't want to go to that shitty place. I'd love to see the Ubu again.
It looks like the Constantines have been added to The Tragically Hip show in April. Haven't really heard these guys but I might head up for the Constantines now, they haven't been around here in a while.

EC may drop off this show, as well as some other shows around that time. Still up in the air though. Family issues.
