Glenn Jones (Boston, ex-Cul De Sac, Thrill Jockey/Strange Attractors)
Nathan Bowles & Scott Verrastro (Blacksburg/Philly improv percussion duo, Klang/Northern Spy)
Layne Garrett (DC, solo guitar/electronics)

Glenn Jones

Before embarking on his solo career, Glenn put out nine albums with the Boston based psych band Cul de Sac over the course of their 20 year history, including collaborations with Damo Suzuki and John Fahey. As a soloist, Jones has further explored that Fahey-influenced American Primitive approach to playing guitar and has released four albums of solo acoustic steel string guitar, six-string, 10-string and bottleneck, and 5-string open-back banjo and has collaborated with such musicians as Jack Rose and Chris Corsano. Simply put, this guy is a brilliant guitarist and it's a real treat to have him playing in Amma's basement.

Nathan Bowles of the Black Twig Pickers and Pelt will perform in a free-improv all-percussion duo with Scott Verrastro of Kohoutek. Expect a wide variety of Pounding, paddling, rasping, and brushing on an array of cymbals, drums, bells, and various items repurposed for sonic tasks.

Layne Garrett is always a well received performer at the Amma House. Who knows what he'll have in store for us this time. Broken bicycle pieces, rewired radios, prepared guitar, a cantaloupe with a jack knife and a nipple? Don't miss out.

There.

I also thought about the lecture and show tomorrow but Sat will be enough. Chethan has a great thing going with Amma.
On a related note, there is this.
Fri Dec 2: Erykah Badu and the Cannabinoids @ Rams Head Live in Baltimore MD

who has seen badu live?  my partner loves her, but i'm not sure if i could stand it.  her music is not bad, but that means nothing into live translation.
Joe has. He said he would pay $80 to see her so I am guessing he thinks she is good.
who's joe . . . and why should i trust him?
Vas Deferens. And I never said that you should trust him.
Amir Khan v. Lamont Peterson @ DC Convention Center, December 10

This show is $75+fees, so looks like he'll have the chance
Maybe he was referring to it when he said that. I thought it was a "what if" thing but maybe not.
How is the Red Palace for shows? Thinking about seeing Fanfarlo there tomorrow night.
Tix are only $15, no clue if Id have to actually buy them in advance.

I have been to Red Palace several times now and have never had a problem with shows. The sound is ok. parking is ok. The bartender upstairs needed to pay more attention and they should stop the polling practice but its an alright place overall. I know many will probably disagree with that.
