Why, is he dying or retiring?

He did say he wasn't planning on doing stand-up much longer in recent interviews. Mentioned something about doing just one more HBO special.
I saw him do a stand-up at Warner in 2002 and it was TERRIBLE. I mean, really really awful. He was looking at note cards more than half the time, and he was just a grouch. Bye bye $60.
Yeah, George Carlin is unfunny…

sweetcell, you should see Pablo Francisco instead :) …at the DC Improv in March.
heh, i'm not planning on seeing carlin - i'd rather watch his classic performances on DVD. while i feel that a concert is something you need to be at, i don't feel as strongly about the need to attend a comic's performance. recordings work fine for me.

i posted that info because i thought his genre of cranky, 7331er-than-thou "observations" would be in line with some boardees' sensibilities :p
I saw him at the union at UMD 3+ years ago and he was great. His most recent comedy central show, however, was awful. He was clearly fucked up and kept losing his train of thought. His bits also dragged on way too long. Like 10-15 minutes at times.

SUN FEB 18- THE HIGH STRUNG, THE XYZ AFFAIR, THE TEETH $10 backstage 9:00

are they the good one or the not as good one? (the high dials being the other.) i can never remember.
I like them alot, though the new material they played at Iota in front of about five people a couple of months ago was unimpressive.

Not completely without their merits but I much prefer the High Dials.

Frick, frack. Apparently, Jim Noir had immigration troubles so he's not going to be at that show. Andy Zipf is [now] opening. *edit* source: Birchmere

Wow, the Goos at 9:30? I'd definitely be up for that. They've been awesome both times I've seen them, and one of those was at a small venue like the club. I've been wanting to see them somewhere like that again ever since.
