Just Announced

Dying to see Fight Amp and Black Tusk and would like to see KEN Mode. Have never heard Today is the Day though, so we'll see about that.

I hate that place but still might go to this to finally see KEN Mode.

Ken Mode played Golden West last October with Bell Witch, who were great.  (I left before Ken Mode, no regrets.)

Postal Service is popular enough to headline MPP? Really? How many top selling albums or singles have they had recently? Or ever had?

I realize the answer to the same question for Belle and Sebastian is 0, but they are sort or revered indie icons. Does Postal Service have the same status?

I'm guessing about 5k tops in ticket sales for those shows. IMP is making some interesting choices in summer bookings.

There's no doubt whatsoever that Postal Service will sell tickets.  You could count on one hand the number of people between 16-30 years old who haven't listened to that album all the way through at least a few times.

HGJ has this event crossed out on its Tumblr page.  Looks like it's cancelled.  I've asked around for more info; will report back if I hear anything.
Yeah I asked a member of Priests. No response yet. It is not listed on their Bandcamp. Oh well the CD Cellar show that night is a fine backup.

Jesus Christ……

Place was sweet. Landrum must have really hated his landlord.

Confession: I've never heard it.
So did the 16 year olds listen to it when they were six years old, or have they just discovered it in the last year or so?

A former boardie gave me something by them ten years ago. I listened to it a few times and tossed it aside and haven't listened since. Really, people still listen to that stuff? I'm shocked.

Me too.  LOVED that album.  But I'm not paying 50 bucks to see them at Merriweather.

I've heard that song. I can't stand Death Cab so I felt no need to listen to Postal Service.

well death cab and postal service are very different…

i'm not the biggest fan of postal service but that's a good record…
The massive Death Cab/Postal Service popularity is one of life's enduring mysteries. Ben Gibbard's voice and songwriting always seemed like an antiseptic parody of indie rock.

it is but it is spelled "synthier" FYI

:D

to me all these bands are the problem with modern music: NO BALLS.

put up any of these songs against AC DC's Let there be rock

no comparison… modern music is for emasculated eunuchs.

still, the few times i listened to the postal service's album i thought it was pretty good and i have a copy somewhere around here…
Never heard postal service, but I heard death cab on the radio a few times and it seemed rather dull.

no care

Funny thing is that Postal Service sounds like an early 80's band.  I don't think they sound anything like  Death Cab for Cutie.
