DJ Dredd (Washington, DC)

Known as one of DC?s top DJs, DJ Dredd has become a favorite among the DC nightlife scene and is in constant demand. His genre-bending style of mixing and uncanny ability to turn any venue into the best party in town has become his trademark which in turn has allowed him to attract a following of people just as diverse as his musical taste. Dredd has had residencies at some of DCs most celebrated parties and his sets are constantly discussed as some of the best in the city. His 5 year residency at Aroma lounge on Friday night provided a venue for party-goers who didn?t want to wait in lines at the mega-club some where to go and dance to good music in a relaxed atmosphere. Then there was ?Uncle Q?s Living Room? (one of DC?s most celebrated parties) where Dredd provided the soundtrack for hundreds every Thursday at Blue Room mixing old-school hip hop, vintage dance, soul and break beats. In 2000 Dredd started a dance party dedicated to the music of Prince. The party has now evolved into one of DC?s biggest dance nights attracting sell out crowds at the historic Black Cat. For this party Dredd brings in the video expertise of the top video DJ on the east coast Robin Bell of Bell Visuals. Together Robin and Dredd create a montage of music and video that makes for an unforgettable experience. Because of the large crowds that this party attracts beginning in February of 2010 the 9:30 Club will begin to pick up some of the parties to accommodate the crowds. In 2005 Dredd decided to follow his dream of opening a vegetarian restaurant/lounge called Vegetate. Dredd owned and operated Vegetate from 2005-2009. Vegetate featured local, organic, modern vegetarian cuisine, local art and the city?s best DJ?s creating a vibe unlike anything in DC.

Cults opening. Both shows are on sale already.
they're nice.
Wikipedia told me that this band was essentially the top 40 radio flavor of the month. I'll continue not caring about them, now.

good thing you let wikipedia makes your artistic choices for you.  saves you the effort of actually listening to them (and having to make up your own mind), right?

a teachable moment: being popular doesn't preclude being talented.
Have you listened to top 40 rock radio lately? I'll give you that the "popular != talent" argument doesn't apply with other genres but try to endure DC101 for an hour.

They are playing on WFMU soon. Thanks for the reminder.
Iceage are playing Baltimore again? I wish they'd play down in DC. I'm loving their album, but not sold they are worth the drive.

Did anyone go to Iceage at Golden West? How was it?
The FMU  set did not sound as good as the album.
