Didn't know Lou Barlow swung that way, but it makes sense.
Damn Hutch, we've been to at least three shows at the same time, how about that.
I like USMH quite a bit. I find it to be easily navigable and I've seen some great shows there. Peter Murphy, Kula Shaker, St Etienne, JSBX, Grimes, Odd Future, PIL, Puppets, Kero Kero Bonito, Vince Staples, Everything Everything, and Julia Holter last week.

How was the Holter show?

JSBX, , PIL, Puppets,

I was at these three shows too..not sure how I missed your gaypornmodel graciousness?

The Holter show was very good. It wasn't great, and I thought it might be transcendent, but it was very good and I'm glad I went. The opener was Jessica [something] and she came out with a violin and said she was going to be playing a 30 minute song. Fortunately, this was a crowd open to that sort of thing, and it turned out to be excellent. Sounded a lot like Grouper at her most ambient at times.

Sidehatch, I've been to so many shows that had people there I knew. My thing is to either bust up to the front of the crowd or skulk around in the back, which is usually where I am because it's hard to maintain a spit cup when people are jumping all over you.

Excited for this. Unaware if ownership changed. Would buy it if I hadn't squandered all of my money on IPAs.

USMH is a mixed bag.

Positives:
metro accessible
affordable tickets
early shows so you can double book shows at the black cat or 930 on the weekends, or have a later dinner (I was out before 10pm last night for Shaed)
even when sold out, not painfully smushed in (though see negative note if farther back)
sound quality

Negatives:
little paper cones for water
horrible site lines if you're farther back (i've stood at the sound board and can barely see the tops of the heads of the musicians; though not as bad as rock and roll hotel.)

I go there rarely lately but I have really enjoyed many shows there…they are usually fairly inexpensive

Shows I have seen there: Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Dean Wareham, El Vez, Book of Love, PIL, Meat Puppets, Flamin Groovies, and St Etienne

It’s not great …you have to make your way up front but shows usually cost $20

I think it’s like going to the Black Cat…not my favorite place but for the right act I will go…now maybe I been lucky and I haven’t seen that many packed shows there
Sound is great for electronic shows, not so much for rock shows

Lily makes a great point. Those cone paper cups are a pain in the ass. They are woefully inadequate as a spit receptacle.
