I concur. Asinine Radiohead covers and underage 'tang aside, there has to be something better to do then see the three princes of MMMbop.

I'd actually consider this, as long as I was deaf and had recently had a lobotomy

Say it ain't so! The Majic Numbers CD is something I'm looking forward to hearing. Them on that bill is like Maximo Park on the Killers bill. Don't think Conor's groupies will give them any due whats so ever.
Hanson did however record a song Mattew Sweet wrote for them… Me thinks Hanson should tour with Saves the Day to prove they are indeed seperate bands..

speaking of Maximo Park, what's the deal? their music is really cool but at that show they were unbelievably boring! maybe it was because they were at merriweather.
Is Magic Numbers the band with the fat guys in it?

Wow. I completely disagree. They've been exciting and energetic every time I've seen them. They are especially good when the crowd responds, but I didn't think they were lacking at the Merriweather show. Were you far from the stage?

That was probably the problem. I noticed that the camera wasn't capturing most of the action on the screens. For the Merriweather show, I was in the first row of seats. And then in NYC, I was right in front of the keyboard player (Lukas) and next to the stage. Check them out in a club, and I guarantee that you'll have a different impression. Their energy is infectious and thrilling.

you're right, the distance was the problem. That makes sense too, because their music has an intimate feel to it. do you know if they have club shows planned for any time soon?
DAR is a very old 3000 seat mini-arena. Unless you're right down front or have one of the box seats near the stage, it's a drag.
I don't know anything about Porcupine Tree, but I'm definitely interested in catching some Frippertronics.
porcupine tree is ok…saw them in may and they neither bored me nor thrilled me. i like their earlier material because they had more of an edge and it seemed more psychedelic. steven wilson is an unabashed king crimson and pink floyd fan, so having fripp open for him in a no-brainer. i'm going to make that a killer double-header by seeing fripp before going to the warehouse for black mountain.

go see a band with the talent enough to tell a venue to fuck off if they try to silence their crowd. or just go see a band that promotes dancing. wsp comes to mind nicely. they rock dar, and if you're seen sitting at one of their shows there, you better have a damn good excuse.

bad acoustics is a fancy way of saying bad sound guy, or better yet, bad band.

I kind of like DAR. The two shows I've been to there (primus and pixies) sounded fine to my ears.
