I'd pay to see Kaki King and Joanna Newsom locked in a 69 - anything to keep them from singing

You know, her fingerpicking is very good. If she shut up and focused on that, I wouldn't mind seeing her. Then again, fingerpickers don't headline 930 very often. Her vocals (and lyrics) are painful, however. Love me some Joanna Newsom, though.
Hopefully Cage the Elephant gets a bigger crowd than their last trip here.  They have blown up quite considerably since then, so I don't doubt it.

Back to Rhode Island bands and The Low Anthem… their MySpace says they are playing both the Kennedy Center at 6pm 3/11, then the Club at 11pm on the same night.

Anyone have any idea what thats about?

Yes, apparently they're playing the Kennedy Center at 6pm and then the 9:30 Club at 11pm. Traffic's a bitch, but it seems doable, yaknow?
Millennium stage?
Pierced Arrows
3/11
Golden West
probably. obviously the time fits. Plus, I've noticed MS is expanding their recent and upcoming performance selections beyond the locals. (via other artists' schedules too)

*edit* well, yes: http://www.lowanthem.com/tour.php

Unless, you were asking why two shows in one day? Then, no, don't if there is something special regarding the twofer.
I guess I've just never seen anyone of consequence booked at the Kennedy Center for shows, never mind free shows with another booked later that night.  Kinda ballsy booking during your first club-level headlining tour…

EDIT: Apparently I know nothing about the KC and they do these free shows everyday…
The fact that they are playing there isn't much of a shocker at all. That they are playing there on the same night as a show somewhere else is interesting, though.

The Berlin Philharmonic was pretty good when I saw them there back in the 90s.
