Comets on Fire
This is AWESOME. I'd read they were on 'hiatus', and they still might be, but I figured that was just a wussy way of saying they'd split. If I had the chance to go to this, I would in a second.
It could be comets w/o Ben Chasny given that he wasn't an original member. Supposedly he hasn't been getting along with the rest of them.

And Comets minus Ben = less enticing IMO.
and Green River?? seriously? with Jeff, Stone and Mark?? no way.

What's Richmond's National Theatre like? You guys think the Denali show will sell out?
The National is a renovated VERY old movie theater. One of those from way back that had the organ rise up out of a pit in the floor to entertain before the picture show started. They left all the theater seats in the balcony which is a good place to sit EXCEPT for the fact that the railing kind of blocks the view of the stage.

The floor is open but the back part is railed off into three sections and raised a bit over the main floor level. The middle section is right behind the sound board. The two side sections have immediate access to the bars.

The sound is pretty good. Ive been there for a handful of shows so far and have about 6 shows planned thsi month.

Friday August 8th - The Norva
Saturday August 9th - Irving Plaza
Sunday August 10th - Irving Plaza

Denali was big in RVA - I would guess that this will sell out pretty quickly. It isn't as big as the Dismemberment Plan reunion shows at Black Cat - but for RVA recently, it might be the most comparable.

I don't see it selling out in 2-3 minutes like the D-Plan reunions, but at $10, I could definitely see it selling out in a week or so. This band was, as Callat703 said, a big deal in Richmond for a long time. Not to mention, excellent.

That said, the band – in its heyday – generally played Alley Katz, Cat's Cradle, Black Cat, etc. Generally not anywhere near as big as The National but there's probably heightened interest since it's the first (and only) show in like 5 years.

which venue is this? i know there's more than one "ram's head" in the area. is ram's head on stage = ram's head live? of maybe is it some outdoor venue?

i'd be very interested in catching this show, although i'm assuming it's in b'more or annapolis.
