Just Announced

Which is probably why I can't really enjoy seeing the White Stripes anymore. Bring me back those $12 shows!

SNOB.

Total agreement on this. That's one reason why I always try to catch opening bands. You never know when you'll find an awesome new band that's on their way to larger, crappier venues.

DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN…
They're one of the few bands I've seen at both size venues that I've still enjoyed on a larger stage. The last Merriweather show was awesome, but it was probably helped by 1) me having floor tickets, and 2) the GA section being quite spacious. Tons of room to move and space to breathe.

Is that on the 14th? That's my mistake. And yes, it'll be awesome.
But too rich for my blood as well. :(

Great shows in dc/baltimore on every saturday in july except for the 14th thus far:

7/7 Tortoise
7/21 Deerhunter/Battles or Whartscape
7/28 Pelican/Earth
whatever. the decemberists w/ the bso is going to be awesome.
the veils & phoenix foundation are playing tonight at the mercury. for those in nyc. just curious if anyone has seen the phoenix foundation. i was listening to their stuff on myspace and it was close to putting me to sleep.

granted im really tired as it is, just was curious if anyone can comment on their live show.
I just don't have much of a tolerance for hard trance/prog house. The beats are bland and aimless, the synth lines are as cheesy as it gets and the vocals (both when processed and when not) are laughably bad. And his dj sets pretty much consist of him pushing play and jumping around. All just my opinion of course.

Tiesto drowned out both Cornelius and GBQ. You couldn't avoid that racket even if you stood up close for either set. Maybe I should've seen the Rapture.

Daman Albarn between a couple songs:

"That is quite possibly the loudest ice cream van I've ever heard."
I'm just curious, with all the anti-Tiesto slaggin going on. What set of his have you heard that turned you so against him, which tour did you see that was so bad that just the mention of his name seems to send a few of you into slander overdrive? I don't think he's the best DJ out there, but I haven't heard one of his sets sound as bad as being portrayed here, but if there are some boots or personal reviews that reflect the complete shit that seems to be the consensus I'd like hear/read them because frankly I'm missing something…and I hate to miss anything.

Hmmm…wonder where I got $100 bucks from? Oh well, still too rich for my blood.
For seats…. I got great seats about 10 rows back for $86 (that includes all fees, etc). It's a lot, but I think it will be a great night.

Wow. 9:30? That's surprising. They're obviously getting big, but I don't know anyone that likes them.

9/15 - Black Lips w/ the Selmanaires @ the Black Cat

Anyone notice that 2 of the backstage shows (Ponys & Aggrolites) on the Cat's website are listed as avaliable to buy at ticketmaster? Maybe they're changing their backstage-tickets-only-available-at-the-door policy?

:D
In the sense that I knew it would offend a few delicate hipster sensibilities, yes, I was joking a bit. But considering that I actually really like Candlebox and am thinking of going, no, I wasn't joking. I did forget that that's the same day as the orchestral Decemberists show, though. I still haven't decided whether I want to pony up the cash for that or not. Lawn seats wouldn't be too bad, I suppose.

oh, right, i had forgotten about that travesty…
Wait, so now Black Lips are opening on mainstage, and Ponys are backstage? Interesting, though I will say it seemed like more of the crowd at the Ponys/Black Lips show a few months ago were there for the BL.
