Wow, awesome show Snailhook. Major snag.

To add my two cents (cause that's all i can afford after last year's DAM! Fest) to why we don't get a lot of bands in DC, Snailhook is right. The BC and 930 don't have to take risks, so they don't. $$$-wise, it makes sense, can't fault them for that. The smaller clubs – ie those booked by Steve Lambert – go to Dance nights cause they make money. It is all about the bars, the venues don't care if they don't make money on artists, so why not bring in artists practically for free and make a ton of money off of drunken dancers? It work,s but is has unfortunately become an epidemic in this city.

I don't always jump for joy at the bands Snailhook books, but I can certainly respect what he's trying to do. Sort of what I'm trying to do with DAM! Fest, though i admittedly have to bring in some more mainstream acts to attract more heads. But even that doesn't guarantee anything really.

The Hotel is a great venue in a terrible location. I think we'd be talking about a very different scene if it were on 14th St. Whether it makes sense or not, people simply won't go there because of the location, at least not to "take a chance" on a band. But, it is what it is. So, we keep on doing what we're doing.

Let's all pool our money and buy the old Visions Theatre in Dupont, now that is a good location…
Mark Knopfler!

Two comments regarding Wolftrap:

1. How gay is it that you have to pay full adult price for a one year old (or even a lap baby, for that matter), even for lawn tickets?

2. How gay is it that Los Lobos has to open for Los Lonely Boys?

There is nothing gay about alphabetical order.

The Long Blondes and Bishop Allen are playing in NYC on those dates. :) Doubt that helps.

They're playing in Paris in early July, just steps from the hotel we're staying at. We won't be attending, but I imagine the crowd will make for some interesting scenery come nighttime.

Sorry, I'm not good at "son of just announced" threads.
