Pink Floyd to Release First New Song in 28 Years to Benefit Ukraine
David Gilmour and Nick Mason have announced their first new song as Pink Floyd in 28 years. Entitled “Hey, Hey Rise Up!”, the song will be released on Friday, April 8th, alongside a music video created by Matt Whitecross. Proceeds from the song and video will benefit the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.

signature gilmore guitar

AKA the last Pink Floyd song ever.  gilmour has previously said that he was done with PF and that there will be no more new music or shows.  guess an unjust war was enough to get him to un-retire and get the band back together.

a few weeks ago, the kiffness released a remix of the same vocal: Ukrainian Folk Song  ARMY REMIX | Andriy Khlyvnyuk x The Kiffness.  over 5 million view in a month.

the singer, Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the band Boombox (Бумбокс), dropped out of a US tour to return home to defend Kyiv.  he was wounded in a gunfight with the russians just prior to the their retreat.  he was hit in the face but will make a full recovery.

the song, Ой у лузі червона калина (Oy u luzi chervona kalena), is associated with partisans who took up arms to defend Ukraine at the end of WW1 and the chaotic period that followed.  it's very appropriate for the volunteer fighters today, they're the modern-day equivalent of who the song was written for.

Nah.

EDIT: Also, that would be a weird booking. Here's a festival about outdoor activites – and now a gaunt, vampire looking man who looks like he hasn't seen sunlight in decades.

Maybe they could accompany it with professional wrestling demos on an outdoor ring?

FTR, we will be there likely for the music only. The free demos sound fun, but I imagine there will be shitshow long lines. Won't spend a dime, though will support other local Richmond businesses. Thoigh I guess the money for the paid events would go to a foundation and not Dominion Power?

wow, quite a line up!
Party at the Lake House!
early tix pricing (they go up as it gets closer to the date) (although with lorde and mistiki on the bill, this will likely sell out?)
look to be $120 for just lawn
$145 for lawn/pav (pit!)
$190 for reserved Pav
$400 for Jules VIP tix
Totally going to that. Fantastic lineup.

SANTA worked for me…
King Khan & the BBQ show
Black cat
Sept 14

I’m really kinda bummed about this booking as it’s just the BBQ show and not the Shrines ( which he is touring Europe with)

In my opinion the BBQ is meh
and the shrines are one of the best backing bands in live music

I’d miss the bbq date in a second
but you couldn’t stop me from missing the shrines
Mark Sultan thanks 🙏 you

Yeah, whatever.  I did mildly enjoy the BBQ show…once.  It's just not that fun of a show with the two guys up there in S&M regalia
Sorry if that insults Mark Sultan, but the truth hurts.  Just a shame this is the only way KK has done US tours the last few go-arounds
the KK and the Shrines show at the black cat tore the roof off the place, the BBQ show was a snore-fest and am surprised they didn't get demoted to DC9 this go around

KK & TS released Idle No More on Merge in 2013 and it's such a great album
I think they only toured twice in the US on it
They haven't been in the DC area since 2016

I mean, they probably don't make much on these tours and taking 8 band members on the road from Belgium is expensive.
but goddamit, I don't care
