I remember the first Metric show at the Club (2003?).  Emily Haines randomly asked the crowd whether they were, "fed up with all this bullshit."  When she got no response, she got all pissy and asked why we weren't getting, "angry as hell about this stuff going down."  Finally someone in the crowd told her to shut up and play.  That made the guitarist all indignant and angry too.  It was funny.  I wonder if anyone ever pointed out to her that the lack of any response from the crowd was simply confusion due to the complete ambiguity of her question and not from a lack of caring about the state of the world?  She reminded me of those pseudo hippie chicks that try to draw a peace sign on their jean jacket but accidentally omit the fourth line segment and end up with the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star symbol instead.
