Just Announced

…I hear Dane Cook really appreciates his fans. That cocksucker. Fuck that guy. Fucking hack. Nice movie career by-the-way jerkoff.
agreed. He is not funny AT ALL.
How is Dane Cook's shitty brand of "humor" even a topic of debate on this board?

Because some of you people think you can somehow judge what others find to be funny, even though funny is about as subjective as it gets, and chose to try to debate that, like complete idiots.

Precisely. And Dane Cook is about as funny as coldplay are listenable.
I very much agree. He has nothing to say either. You know what he does? He tells you what he observes. And then people with no taste go nuts over it.

Coldplay has some good tunes. "Yellow." "Trouble." "The Scientist." Honestly, are't all three of those songs better SONGS and artistic achievements than anything on Radiohead's "Rainbow Brite?"

Ten years from now, I can picture an entire stadium of people still singing "Yellow." I don't see them doing that with "Body Snatchers" or "All I Need."

Brian

P.S. Ok. Stadium filling popularity isn't everything. Ten years from now, I can picture some fifteen year old (alone in her/his room) still trying to learn "Yellow" on her/his guitar. I can't imagine anyone ten years from now even remembering "In Rainbows."

Except balding thirty-seven-to-forty-four year-olds.

Who drink way too much coffee.

Listen to NPR.

And have an entire closet full of ironic t-shirts and unscuffed tennis shoes.

not a coldplay fan but i do agree with this. that rainbow cd just isnt doing anything for me.
Now the black cat site says school of seven bells are opening for prefuse 73 instead of voice of the seven woods. That definitely makes more sense. Looks like someone at the bc got their "seven" bands confused or something.
From Pitchfork:

Butthole Surfers' Haynes Joins Rockin' Children for Tour

Gibby Haynes will join a cadre of kiddies from the Paul Green School of Rock for a series of six dates in February (one, on the 12th, has yet to be confirmed). And together they'll play Butthole Surfers material.

Dates so far:

02-10 New Hope, PA - Jon and Peter's
02-12 TBA
02-13 Asbury Park, NJ - Asbury Lanes
02-15 Boston, MA - Middle East
02-16 Philadelphia, PA - The Trocadero
02-17 New York, NY - Highline Ballroom

That rules. Here's hoping for a date in DC on the 12th.
I always figured that the Buttholes would do a reunion tour. This isn't exactly it, but I'll bet ten bucks the band does a proper show in the next year.
If Vansmack jumps on a plane now, he can probably make this one…

Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 7:00 PM - Nick Hornby - Slam, A Novel
Just when everything is coming together for Sam, his girlfriend Alicia drops a bombshell. Make that ex-girlfriendâ??because by the time she tells him sheâ??s pregnant, theyâ??ve already called it quits. Sam does not want to be a teenage dad. Thereâ??s only one person Sam can turn toâ??his hero, skating legend Tony Hawk. Sam believes the answers to lifeâ??s hurdles can be found in Hawkâ??s autobiography. But even Tony Hawk isnâ??t offering answers this timeâ??or is he? In this wonderfully witty, poignant story about a teenage boy unexpectedly thrust into fatherhood, itâ??s up to Sam to make the right decisions so the bad things that could happen, well, donâ??t. Nick Hornby is the author of the novels How to Be Good, High Fidelity, About a Boy, and A Long Way Down, as well as the memoir Fever Pitch.

At this point, as long as it's not any material from the last two proper albums, I'd be psyched for just about anything.

The last time I saw them was in Philly (they skipped DC) for the Weird Revolution tour. They only played one WR song and "Pepper", and the rest was a greatest hits setlist. Awesome.
