Jesus Fishstick. Who has $100 or $200 to drop on every good show that comes down the pike? Doesn't anybody in this town have 529's, 401K's, maid service, or home improvement budgets to dump their money into?

My advice.

Load the family up in the hyundai Saturn in September > drive two hours north > purchase most likely $20 tickets or less > better line up > Tröegs pours (could possibly be out of the space friendly ounce to cost ratio) >> Drive home.

Thanks. That is a nice plan but there are a few flaws.

1. The Saturn is long gone.
2. My wife doesn't like live music, or car rides.
3. My kid doesn't like *my* music. Except for maybe the Beatles and Queen, and two Wilco songs.
4. I don't think I could drive two hours that late at night. Especially if I've had a few overpriced Troegs pours.
5. I don't like Sturgill, and I've seen Willie enough (unless he was playing my back yard for free beer and weed.)

I was actually asking on behalf or the other financially prudent, moderate wage earners of the world. (And no, we don't have maid service.)

Interesting… so they cancelled the show at The Lube?

was thinking the exact same thing
just went on ticketmaster and it says…canceled for the same date

tix go on sale friday via tickefly
$95 for GA, $175 for VIP (wonder if they are doing more seating than normal?)

kinda worked out in our favor (and seth's), but that's gotta hurt

Can we get an Elvis booking as well?  Maybe some sort of secret 9:30 Club gig?

Father John Misty is going from playing The Anthem (max:6000) to the Jefferson Theatre in C'ville (max: 750) shortly after. That's quite the drop in capacity even at the Anthem's smallest configuration.

UVA's semester won't have started yet and Charlottesville, along with surrounding areas, don't come close to the population that DC and it's suburbs have. However, I do think that a booking at Sprint Pavilion (capacity: 3,500) a couple blocks away from the Jefferson makes a hell of a lot more sense.

Borns played Anthem and are booked for Jefferson Theater 3 days before FJM.
Washington DC population = 693,972 (2017)
Charlottsville VA population = 48,017 (2017)

I'd say they're lucky that they are getting a show :)

So are Anthem ticket prices 1/8th the price of the Jefferson, given that there is eight times the capacity at Anthem?
Always weird to me that the bigger the venue the higher the price….but with few exceptions it is the rule….

I saw Willie at 930 about four years ago for $50…

What I have learned is not to be stingy about concerts…biggest regrets missing Chuck Berry at 930 circa 1996 for a measly $50…..by far the biggest

And ray Charles at birchmere right before he died for over $100

Btw Willie is 85 years old folks
I don't think Charlottsville people are willing to pay that much given that they probably make 1/8 the salary of the average DC person.

Charlottesville is a rather affluent area (albeit people in the demographic group that would want to see FJM probably not as much).

2/3 is the fraction you're looking for.

The current median household income for Charlottesville is $62,523.
And I saw Sturgill at Gyspy Sally's. I want to say the tickets were $15.

I bought a pack of smokes and a gallon of gas in 1998 at Sheetz for $1.99 total.
How was he?  To me he's just OK live.

Ha ha!

Back in 1993 you could get a gallon of gas for 87 cents in McLean, VA! I bought a few
