Just Announced

Actually, the black lips info was via pitchfork so i don't know if it's on the mainstage or not. If it is maybe its because black lips falls on a weekend and the ponys are backstage b/c that's a monday? When I saw Ponys/Black Lips at the ottobar a few months ago I got the same vibe, a lotta folks left after black lips.

Wait, so now Black Lips are opening on mainstage, and Ponys are backstage? Interesting, though I will say it seemed like more of the crowd at the Ponys/Black Lips show a few months ago were there for the BL.

Anyone notice that 2 of the backstage shows (Ponys & Aggrolites) on the Cat's website are listed as avaliable to buy at ticketmaster? Maybe they're changing their backstage-tickets-only-available-at-the-door policy?

Not sure yet. I know he's not playing full band shows until August, so maybe full band!
I was gonna make a topic out of this, but I figured I'd get eYelled at for it. It's totally worthy of it;s own topic though:

How is QOTSA opening up for a shitty raprock band halfway across the country worthy of it's own topic? I suppose if the slant of the topic is QOTSA need to have more discerning taste.
Yeah it's a definite possibility. The full band is playing a set in upstate NY in the middle of august.

I love Rage, man. I don't care what you think, I would tooootally go to this show. If only Queens weren't forced to play a 45 minute opening set. gah!
Dan Sartain dropped off the Detroit Corbas show and is now opening for the White Stripes.

Which is great because I now have 75 silkscreened posters that will need to be blacked out.
You print them more than a month in advance..?

In support of the new albums, [Robert] Pollard says heâ??s agreed to play at least two concerts. He abandoned the stage in late 2006, canceling the last three shows of a tour and announcing the end of his gigging days. But "Uncle Bob" is not one for retirement.

â??Iâ??m off for five or six months and Iâ??m like, â??Damn, I just finished these two records and they rock, I want to hear how they translate to the stage,â??â? he says.

The shows, one at Southgate House in Cincinnati and the other at Metro in Chicago, are tentatively scheduled for late November/early December. Pollard plans on playing New York shortly after.

I'm still pissed Bob never rescheduled that canceled Baltimore show last year.

Whoa Nelly, was there urine in the oatmeal this morning? What's got you so riled up? Shitty raprock? Shitty raprock is what happened AFTER RATM, imitation may be a form of flattery but it's just as likely to be simply shitty. They may be faulted for inspiring a generation of also rans and horrible imitations but to call RATM shitty raprock is way too simplistic and I believe a little beneath you. RATM may not be everyone's cup of tea, but even as a naysayer there has to be part of you that acknowledges they're animated, bombastic, and extremely technically proficient with a semi-inspiring message to those inclined to be inspired. Now they developed somewhat of a knucklehead following but don't hold the band entirely responsible for that. Anyway whoa nelly moment has ended.
