oh, this ain't good . . . if true.

The person that did this is definitely a fucking idiot.
But.
I am far from a GOP apologist.  But it's not exactly fair to take the actions of one or two assholes and then paint the entire convention with a broad brush.

I DO NOT like the GOP platform, their candidates or their policies.  But I guarantee you the Dems harbor their fair share of idiots too.
I didn't think the Cat Power show at the club in '09 was bad at all. I was right up front though, and I really dig the Jukebox stuff. It got a bit dull during the extended "Blue" intro, but otherwise, it was a solid performance.

I'm looking forward to hearing how the new stuff - especially the electronic elements - translate live.

Drama would have helped when I saw her.

Only artist I've seen have a nervous breakdown on stage.
In Argentina, I don't know if it was the language barrier, but she started talking like a crazy person…… and then simply left the stage.. so embarassing and unprofessional.

The second time I saw her was more recently opening for someone I actually wanted to see. Her performance was better than valium.

She gives really good interviews.. they're always the same.. she'll tell you how she's recently had a rough time.. either the booze , stagefright, bad relationship or something.. so lets you into her life and builds some trust like that.. THEN she tells you its over and she's turned a new leaf and is in a good place now. SHe then explains with some child psychology why it all happened. Of course then she takes off a year or two and gives the same interview replacing a few words when she's promoting the next _fill in the blank_.

I often think people fall for her baloney because she is pretty. She's like that pretty tease girl in High School…If she wasn't pretty you wouldn't even listening to her psychobabble.
Matthew E. White - R+R Hotel - 9/22

  8)
Not exactly just announced (or local), but there's this gig:

8/30
The Meatmen/Anti-Nowhere League
Union Transfer
Philly, PA

Any chance either of these bands are coming to DC/Baltimore?

He was referring to that Velvet show. I so needed that show after the horrendous Cat Power shitfest he and I went to at the Club prior to going to the Velvet.

Cat Power was the WORST.

One of the worst shows I ever saw was Cat Power in Buenos Aires…

She gives good interview but come on people.. wake up! $40 to see her? I wouldn't pay $5.

I have seen Cat power twice.  Once at the 930 club for NPR show in 2006 and she was excellant.  Once at virgin fest in 2008 and she was decent.

I don't get all the negativity to her. "The Greatest" would be in my top 20 of the the 2000's.  Now if you want to see someone sucky live see My Morning Jacket or the Bowerbirds.
i just fell in love with them.  what is dc9 like.  scary town or nice?
It's a block away from the 930.
I go to DC9 regularly.  It's fine.  Easy metro and decent street parking. Also, the garlic fries are fantastic.
What a sloppily handled mess that turned out to be.

No one was ever charged, I know 3 of the guys involved in that, those guys wouldn't hurt a fucking fly and probably don't even have the strength to kill the fly between the 3 of them. The police chief completely fucked that up.

Dc9 is great, the rooftop is a pretty fun little drinking spot.
my last experience at dc9 lasted 5 minutes and was real lame

i get there like 2 or 3 minutes before 8. .i order the happy hour beer.. deal is til 8 i think.. … bar tender takes 3 minutes or so to get my beer that i had already ordered..not that she was taking other orders or anything.there were like 2 other poeple in the place! when she hands it to me i give her the exact amount plus a dollar tip.. she then tells me -rudely i might add- that happy hour is over and tells me its 5$

i thought that was weak and i told her I'd ordered the beer before 8.. when she didn't bat an eye i told her what she could do with the beer… and of course i left..

i may go there for laetitia sadier…but then again  i may not.. when stuff like that happens i just feel real negative about the place..
