they were all set to officially announce the tour today, 1/13, had been working on the details for months, but given the fires in LA they decided to postpone.  some ticketing outlets didn't get the memo and ended up announcing onsales despite the last-minute embargo.

This was firmly on my "they hate each other so much they'll never reunite" list but I see Jenny Lewis has run out of money.

That said, if there's an actual tour happening, there with bells on.

i believe it was Space and three other former boardies who saw Rilo Kiley at Velvet Lounge when they were touring with The High Strung… I remember when Jenny Lewis one time at the club asked how many people saw Rilo Kiley play in DC that first time and the entire crowd cheered and I was thinking no so much…

Rilo Kiley at Velvet Lounge would've been amazing. Damn. Good for Space.

Well just as I didn't actually stay and see Broken Social Scene, I didn't act stay and see Rilo Kiley either. (I once skipped headliner Chris Stapleton after seeing opener Jason Isbell as well.)

Arlo was really the band we were there to see. Here's my review of their set.

It was 2002. I was a fan of a crunchy power pop band from LA called Arlo and they were playing a scrappy little music club on U Street called the Velvet Lounge. They were actually opening for another band that went on to become fairly popular in the indie rock scene (edit: Rilo Kiley), but I was interested in seeing the opening band. So I invited a handful friends and acquaintances to the show. There we were, just the half dozen of us and the band. Midway through the set, the drummer and one of the guitarists started arguing, and before we knew what was going on, they were on the floor brawling as the other two band members continue to play. As the rest of us stood there dumbfounded, perhaps wondering if the brawl was part of the act, into the fray jumped my friend Scott. Singlehandedly he broke up the fight and was later seen talking with both of the combatants in successive fashion. I asked him what he was talking to them about and he told me he was hoping to get them to reconcile.

15 years later, my friend Scott and his wife were murdered in their house, three days before Xmas day.

If I remember correctly, the crowd consisted of Poorlulu, Markie, Jadetree, maybe Thirsty Moore,* Celeste**, myself, my friend Scott, and another female friend I was trying to set up with Scott***. And of course, the many hundreds of other people who claimed to be there.****

*Thirsty Moore, I think, was NKOTB's college roommate. He later married, moved to Michigan, and had kids. Poorlulu and Markie were already married. They later move to Massachusetts and had twins. Jadetree later moved to Portland, Oregon. Marital status unknown, but he became the godfather of Markie and Lulu's kids (I think,)
