No. The lightning has crashed.
If Red Onion is good enough for Kurt Vile, It's surely good enough for Frank Turner.

I've been attempting to build my own Weather Warlock. I am definitely going to try to make that show.
Red onion wouldn't touch the cheesiness that is Frank Turner.

dude, throw on your flame retardant suit asap! That guy is a god here!
I will never understand this board's love for Frank Turner. His blandness is coma-inducing.
I like the previous albums and seen him before….the new one isn't good at all (cliché central), apart from the song for Josh.

as a big FT fan…I agree with the above…new album isn't doing it for me at all (hoping he only plays a few at his upcoming gig)

England Keep My Bones, Tape Deck Heart and Love, Ire & Song all have a bunch of great songs
his live show are second to none

I recommend listening to these songs

Photosynthesis
I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous
Substitute
Long Live the Queen
The Road
I still believe
If Ever I Stray
Wessex Boy
Plain Sailing Weather
Four Simple Words
Tattoos

obviously not for everyone

I can totally understand why you don't understand the appeal of Frank Turner. I also find him bland, and musically uninteresting and I'm slightly embarrassed that I like him. I do though, because he is pretty much what I would be if I were making music. Toned down punk rock sensibility, no vocal range, grew up on the same stuff that I did, and writing straight forward songs about his life. Musically it's not that interesting, but there is some passion and bite to it.

ditto

and this coming from an alt-country fan
I caught him once last year and yeah, not for me, either. That said, he is really good at what he does and "Song For Josh" is a touching tribute that I'm sure Josh would've loved.
