Is he someone people still care about?
last time he played JJ about 50 people showed
but interest has dwindled
I literally have no idea who Clem Snide is. Not trying to be snarky — zero clue.
I think it’s an alternative country band that was big for 20 minutes in the aughts….

I don’t think there is a person named Clem Snide in the band
They are (he is?) loosely when I define as Pandora rock.  As in, i only ever heard them (him?) on Pandora radio

Y'all know we have this thing called the Internet and in it there's this thing called Google. Right?

But without Googling, I'll say…Clem Snide is the artistic/band name of Eef Barzelay. Kind of like Bonnie Prince Billy for Will Oldham. Side note: If I were named "Eef Barzelay" or "Will Oldham", I'd think I had been blessed with a cool name and just go with it…

If I recall correctly, Eef Barzelay was a music critic before starting Clem Snide.

Clem Snide released a couple of snark/irony-laced indie rock albums in the early 2000's, as well as a solo album by Eef. Standout tracks included "Joan Jett of Arc,"a Christina Aguilera cover, and some others I'd have to Google or pull out the CD's to remember. Then they went quiet for awhile. Then they were set for a big comeback with a less snarky, more earnest album produced by one of the Avett Brothers (who are incapable of nothing other than earnest.) But then COVID hit, and the album lost it's 15 minutes, and here they are playing Pie Shop size suburban stripmall level venues within minivan driving distance of their core audience.

I'm pretty sure that Eef Barzelay could edit that previous paragraph for the  better.
Mr always asks stupid questions throws out the you know there is a thing called google

It’s hard to keep up with the level of trolling

Is this trolling on the square?
Trolling the troll by the troll in chief?
fairly accurate and yes the internet exists too

I'd like to add "Clem Snide" is a character in several novels by William S. Burroughs, including Naked Lunch

Moment in the Sun from The Ghost of Fashion
is a wonderful track, did somewhat well and was used for a long forgotten TV show ED
even Robert Christgau was speaking their praise in 2001

and the cover of Beautiful (by CA) is just awesome
(on that same EP his cover of I'll Be Your Mirror is quite possibly the best version I've heard)

also I Love the Unknown is a great early track

That Scott Avett collab looked to get him back in the spotlight, there was a tour planned and everything
but COVID hit and ultimately that did absolutely nothing for his profile (I didn't think it was that great personally)

Eef has been on the edge of breaking out a few times, but just never seems to work out for him
I'll probably try to make this 9/11 show at JJ
10/24 Autumn Defense, Wolftrap Barns
Straycats 2025 tour

Nothing near DC…good to see Setzer back at it though
^ thought of you when i saw the straycats announcement yesterday, hutch.  i was hoping to share some good news with you, alas…

I must say this was possibly one of my 'regrets' not catching them at wolf trap a few years back
not road tripping to see them, but they would be a fun Anthem show
I feel it’s more a surprise at the club type show although fanbase might be in wheelchairs which might benefit from seats at Lincoln…depressing
Maybe there will be another leg added to tour…there are a lot of cities missing

Yeah would be fantastic at 930…

This has farewell written all over it…hitting some markets they probably haven’t played in forty years…

Next year will be 20 years since I saw them in Baltimore…still remember That Guy being there…Straycats were absolutely lights out fantastic but got less than an hour…then Pretenders then REO speed wagon then ZZ Top

Was a fun night!

took me a minute to figure out "nevermore" referred to the venue, and not the metal band - because the pairing of okie, crystal and nevermore the band made zero sense to me.
