Weekend has been awesome everytime I've seen them (once at dc9 and once opeing up for Medicine at Music Hall of Williamsburgh). As for songs sounding the same, I disagree. Sports is noisier (in a good way) and agressive than Jinx. A lot of people may have not liked Jinx but you cant blame them for trying new territory.
