There appear to be Shins tickets available at TM. They're listed as obstructed view, but it beats getting shut out.

I'm curious about this one, especially since the new album is great. But has anyone been to Love? I've been told to be wary…
Lightning Bolt

04-25 Philadelphia, PA - TBA
04-26 Dragon Island, Narnia - TBA
04-27 Brooklyn, NY - Pratt University (Todd P show) #

# with the Sun Ra Arkestra

Seems as though that 4/26 show will fall somewhere in the dc/baltimore area. I guess "dragon island, narnia" is their cute little way of saying "tba"

spoke with my buddy, who is a hip hop head… his words:
1) Love is bearable, not too bad, but do expect some attitude (The Beautiful People™, velvet ropes, VIP sections, bottle service, etc)
2) said he saw Nas a few years ago in Boston (at Avalon) and Nas performed for about 20 minutes, tops. didn't even say good night - he just walked off the stage during a musical interlude, and someone in his entourage got on the mike and said "all the ladies that want to go to the after-party, gather over on this side of the stage". my friend LOVES Nas' lyricism, but says that he'll never go see him again. but that was a while ago and might have been a one-off experience. no idea what he's like as a performer nowadays…

I assume they're opening for Peter, Bjorn and John.
If I was going to see Nas, I'd make the extra drive to see him at Rams Head Live.

i went the night it opened. when i think it was called something else. then i used to promote a friends club outside the place in 02,03. i dont think i once saw a caucasian go in there…but i didnt see too many fights either, and the ones i did see usually involved security and an unruly patron.
Mother wanker…it looks like Man Man is the same night as Soulwax! grrrrr!

Took my little brother to see him in Times Square for Christmas. Seen Nas at least 3 times. His live performances have gotten a lot better over the years. He used to be (Bill Walton voice) HORRRRRIBLE. As far as Love, it sucks seeing a show there unless you're in the middle of the room. They usually put all the concerts on the 2nd floor of the club in the "stage" room. There's columns all throughout the left & right side of the room. Not ideal for shows. Most likely you'll get stuck hearing & not seeing the show. If you gotta go, I recommend Rams' Head instead.

The white folk usually tend to show up for hip-hop shows at Dream/Love. Show's on a Friday, which is urban (read: black) night. You'll get a more mixed crowd strictly off the strength of Nas being in the building. Dress to impress, they get super funny about dress codes up in there.
I saw Nas at Penn State years ago and he was really good.
