Just Announced

I saw Constantines in 2003. Sorry, they just weren't my thing. I even bought the 2003 cd for a buck, tried to like it and failed. I think I ultimately threw it in the garbage (wasn't in original packaging, so had no resale value).

On the other hand, I love me some Sadies.

The Sadies, instead of the Constantines, are the token Canadian band opening the Tragically Hip shows out west. I'd say the East got the short end of the stick on that one.
Don't be so sure. I saw the Constantines several times last year when they were opening for the Weakerthans. Their live show is much better than the CD might imply.

Where we're really getting short changed is the fact that the Constantines/Sadies are opening for the Hip instead of the other way around. It's time for Das Hip to call it a day. The new CD is simply awful. It's hard to believe this is the same band that wrote Day For Night.

Here's hoping they come back to Jammin Java, they put on a great show the last 2 times.
people from the front royal / winchester area go to jaxx? really, wow. seems a far drive just to see napalm death or a reunion of cannibal corpse. but, then again, when "sweet carolines" is the best musical venue we have in this area, i would drive anywhere to basically see anything . . . unless of course it was at jaxx.
Ben Gibbard (solo tour)
Openers: David Bazan and Jonathan Rice
9:30 Club
Thu. 5/10

Theatre of Living Arts
Wed. 5/9

$20 per.
What's Gibbard's solo stuff like? I wish he would just do a Postal Service tour…
I wasn't aware that Ben really had any solo material, unless you count the stuff from All Time Quarterback and the Home split. He'll probably mostly just play solo versions of Death Cab songs. Which is fine by me, of course. :)

David Bazan is good, too.

I used to live down by Norfolk, and even from way down there I'd drive up to Jaxx once in a while for shows. Only certain shows, of course. That distance is perfectly reasonable to see bands like Therion (best show I've ever seen), Sonata Arctica, and Blind Guardian, I assure you.
Damien Rice
5/25
DAR
Johnathan Rice is incredible, too…

His actual solo material from the Home split is pretty much like acoustic death cab. You wouldn't know the difference.

Every Gibbard solo bootleg I have is amazing. It's usually like 1/2 DCFC songs, 1/3rd Postal Service, and a few spare solo songs and covers.

Here's a sample setlist from January 06

You Remind Me Of Home
(This Is) The Dream Of Evan And Chan [DNTEL]

If anyone wants to hear any of his solo stuff, I have a boot I can send you, chock full of covers (Thriller, Avril Lavigne, Girls Just Want to Have Fun) plus acoustic Death Cab. Drop me a line at grace.ambrose@gmail.com
Sounds like a good show.

which is NADA!!!

these Re-union shows are like a deadbeat dad who leaves you when you're six and you have to fend for yourself and your family and then as soon as you turn 21 and get a good job, a wife and kids…there he is, calling you up, wanting to play catch in the backyard…..like old times!!!
I legitimately think there'll be only 4 shows in 2007 like they've said. I think in 08 they'll run the touring gammet with new material to boot.

I don't particularly care though, the band was shit.
Aw, without Rage Against The Machine around to constantly remind us to fight the man, we've all gone and joined him.

Now we're all too far in!!1
