converge are playing nation on saturday, november 5th and doing 2 shows (early & late) at the ottobar on friday, november 18th. i'm not a big fan of the venues but it doesnt really matter. they are one of the tightest (musicianship-wise) bands I've ever seen live and jacob bannon knows how to channel ferocity & urgency ala filth period-swans michael gira & iggy pop. don't let anyone ever tell you they're just another metal-core band.

Jon Langford and Sally Timms of the Mekons, with violinist Jean Cook and Pere Ubu bassist Tony Maimone, play a selection of songs from their solo careers, plus Mekons and Waco Brothers chestnuts. In cooperation with the Future of Music Coalition, a not-for-profit collaboration between members of the music, technology, public policy, and intellectual property law communities.
