Just Announced

Hmm…that still may be too late.
Iron & Wine
w/ Blitzen Trapper
Rams Head Live
November 18 | 8:30

On sale Saturday.
October 26
Deerhoof with Flying and Experimental Dental School
9:30 Club
I love the Magnetic Fields but am very tempted to sell my ticket if the double header isn't doable.
Magnetic Fields is the rare show, Deerhoof isn't.

This may have come up already, but I didn't see it and I can't emphasize enough how awesome this band is. Only Comets on Fire rivals them for sheer live awesomeness.

DMBQ
Velvet Lounge
Tuesday 10.21.08
Paramount Styles (aka Scott McCloud of Girls Against Boys)
October 20th, somewhere is DC

The new album is wonderful, big departure in style. Saw him "solo" about four years ago and was impressed.

I've been waiting for years for Iron & Wine to play a quiet sit-down venue like Birchmere, Strathmore, Constitution or Warner. Still waiting…

Very sad about one of the band members getting killed in a wreck on I-95 going through Baltimore on their last trip.
Yeah but Deerhoof are about as fun as it gets.

I may have to go to this show, based solely on this photo.
They played dc once after that wreck.

Was it last summer?

Their show four years ago at IOTA is still one of my all time favorites.
Ask Sweetcell.

What was not captured by this photo is that right after, while still being hoisted above by the crowd, he set his drums on fire. Well of course he did.

The last show DMBQ played (that I was at) was at the Hosiery, which I attended with Sweetcell. Before that, I saw them at DC9 with Kurasawa B/W, and that too had a spectacular ending. During the final jam, the singer slowly dismantled the drummer's kit piece by piece and built an enormous, precarious tower in the middle of the floor. The tower swayed and teetered, but stayed up until the guy took the last piece – a cymbal – and from the stage, threw it like a laser shot into the drum tower, and the whole thing collapsed into a big pile of awesomeness. Sadly, the accident referred to happened a few days later, killing the drummer.
Hahahahaha I knew that was coming.

That was to nkotb.
Why are DMBQ still touring? China is irreplaceable. I'm sorry.
