I think they were already pre-selling on Musictoday.
I might go but I'm more looking forward to the Cornelius show that same week. I'm bored with Ween as a live act now that they're all serious and professional

The sonar show did leave a little to be desired. Already got my Cornelius; my most looked-forward to show of the year so far. That and Shadow/Cut Chemist on the prior night.

depends on what time you're driving. 95 S can be pretty bad between DC and south of Fredericksburg. I would allow 5 1/2 hours from downtown DC to get to the Cradle.

Fantastic news…I've never seen Sun Kil Moon. Saw the Red House Painters at the old Birchmere back in 1993 and it's still one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Was it a full band show? I saw him last year, and it was just him and a guitarist. Good show, but I would've liked to heard the full arrangements for some songs. I think it was just billed as Mark Kozelek, and he played both Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon material…

Oh I got London on wednesday via WASTE.
Can't do Amsterdam at those prices due to the shitty value of the dollar, though.
I guess 2 MBV's/1 RH will have to do. :)

Full band, but first Mark and Gorden came out, opened with "Japanese to English" (just the 2 of them) and then they played a few songs. Mark was really irritated and kept snapping at Gorden, telling him to play slower. Then the band came out (Jerry and Anthony) and did "Katy Song", which was just phenomenal. "Dragonflies" and "Mother" in particular left me speechless. What I couldn't get over was how much they rocked. Anthony's drumming was so powerful, but Mark's voice was so damn penetrating. For the encore, he came out by himself and did "Mistress", "Grace Cathedral Park" and one other song acoustic. I have the setlist at home. I wish I could find a bootleg from that era.

Kozelek NEVER plays the DC metro area. It's always Baltimore, and last time, Annapolis. The last time he was around DC was in 2001 for the RHP Old Ramon tour at the Black Cat.
Did he piss someone off here?

i think iota would be a perfect venue for a kozelek show..even though it would most likely sell out quickly. the annapolis show was great..even though i was scared to death to even whisper.

HA! Someone told me a funny story about how he was in NYC playing a show and he asked the crowd "How many people are going to the Philly show tomorrow night?" and there was a smattering of applause. He shot back "well, don't bother to show up, 'cuz I won't be there." I've met him a couple of times. He's definitely got some issues, but he's not as bad as people say. Last time I saw him was at Fletcher's in 1998. Can't believe it's nearly been 10 years.
