Younger me would have been pro phone free shows. Older me can't be away from my work phone for 3 hours to attend a concert, even on a Saturday night. Older older me won't be comfortable being phone-less for 3 hours with kids at home.

I am just constantly in wonder of how pathetic and weak-willed someone must be to have their enjoyment of a concert ruined by someone else in looking at their phone. I would think the ego stroking of getting to declare someone else "not a tr00 music fan" and yourself, by extension, better would be the sort of thing that would fuel many of your fragile self-esteems for another day.

you still have your phone…just in a pouch which you can take to a designated area and have opened and use…


It was interesting when Jack White did this for his solo shows at Anthem I asked a bunch of people what they thought about it (after show) and to a person they liked it

I think that it's fine to do this, and would also be fine for The Hives show.

Actually, this makes perfect sense to me. I think it's going to be a pretty seamless fit. Interpol fans aren't beer-swilling jocks. They wear black on the outside because black is how they feel on the inside. Voila.
