blue cheer was added to Intonation's line up recently, as was Roky Erickson. I'm really not sure what to think.

This would be great - but aren't the Disco Biscuits playing that night at the Club? And no mention of this on the Weakerthans site.
5/11 is a thursday.
JULY 11th is a Tuesday.
november 11th, though, is a Saturday!

OK. I'm an idiot. I admit it.
The dates are JULY 11th and 12th. JULY….

And I got the dates from the Epitaph website. Looks like a super short tour after they finish whoring themselves out to the Tragically Hip. :)

they've got a pretty decent bunch of performers this year, for the npr/paste crowd: andrew bird, bettye lavette, tom verlaine, alejandro escovedo, english beat, etc. i've got family up there and saw sonic youth and wilco for free in the past, very laidback, good times.
Why do so many cities seem to have all kinds of freebie concert series and DC has NONE?

There's Strathmore & what's the other place for late summer shows??
Although, Strathmore has nothing that peaks my interest.
I was hoping this was a showing of the documentary:
Aug 23, Wednesday 7:00 PM Strathmore Free Outdoor Concert Series - Tribute to Neil Young
Musicians including Bob Berberich, Martha Hull, Deeme Katson, Mary Ann Redmond and the Yayhoos, Eric Brace and Ruthie & The Wranglers, come from far and wide to pay tribute to this incredible singer/songwriter.

Folklife festival has freebie concerts…

Wasn't there some kinda of ballyhoo at a HFS sponsored show on the mall at some point that put a damper on concerts held out there? possibly with the cranberries, wasn't living in DC at the time

There are freebie shows in Baltimore and Annapolis…
There's always Fort Reno. . .

Drive by Truckers played this last year and I would be tempted to go this time for the Eels/Tom Verlaine sets but on that website it has them listed for 2 different dates. Which is correct, as I doubt they're playing both? Is proof reading a lost art?

Yup, it was the Cranberries. The concert was at like noon on a Thursday at that little ampitheater over by the Washington Monument. There were major crowd control issues.

I was in highschool then and I remember a bunch kids sneaking out of school to go down there. Our school disciplinarian was camped out down at the East Falls Church Metro intercepting kids on their way to the show.
