I'd avoid this at all costs, especially if you saw the original lineup in the 80s. The last few bad brains shows I've seen (going back to 96 or so) have been a complete disaster. HR coming and going off stage, sometimes outright refusing to perform, sarcastially singing his way through the songs as if he's just too good for the whole thing. He's been phoning it in for years (and I don't mean phoning it in like he did for the vocal track on "Sacred Love").

The guy's an asshole…a legend yes. You can't discount their output up to I Against I, but HR ain't all there these days. In fact, I'm fairly sure he's quite mentally ill and just can't handle the shit..

I left their last 9:30 show about 30 min. in….

<end rant>
I wonder if HR was riding the Metro this morning.

I know it's hard for you to tell 'those people' apart Rhett, but I doubt it was him.

I can appreciate the warning, I caught the last "Soul Brains" show at the 9:30 back in late '03, it was definitely spotty at times but the last half an hour alone made the whole show worth seeing IMO. Yeah it's a shame that HR seems to be losing his grip but apparently he's been touring solo throughout the US in the past year doing both reggae and Bad Brains songs to positive reviews. It also gives their set a bit of an unpredictability factor that you won't get from a band with a iron clad setlist (or tools like Rob Zombie who rely on mostly backing tapes live). I know it's rare that a band is going to sound better now than they did nearly 30 years ago (or even close) but for the Bad Brains I'll take that gamble and see how things turn out.

Hmmm, I guess I can scrap adding this to the "Hey Snailhook" thread I've been too lazy to find.

That's quite a nice bump for her, from Iota to the Black Cat.
