Have Weezer fallen so far off that they can be lumped under the same umbrella as Creed and Nickelback and Puddle of Mud and Kid Rock yet? If not, I think they are closing in fast.

I'm not a fan and didn't catch their set, but based on several critics accounts as well as some boardies posting here, they seemed to be the cream of the crop at VFest.

Tim Hecker at the Hexagon in Baltimore now on sale:
http://other.hexagonspace.com/heckerticketI was at the Hexagon last night. Very nice space. Holds about 150. You can bring your own booze.
The only problem is that shows start late. It was advertised that the Soft Pink Truth show (with 2 openers) is at 9 pm. By 10 pm, no one has hit the stage. I asked for a refund and got it. I guess 9 pm is the door time. Not sure if this is applicable to other shows.
If it is, expect Tim Hecker to go on about 1 am, which is OK on the weekends, not OK during the week.

Freelance Whales put on a really great show at The Delancey. They were playing acoustic (forgot the reason behind it) and it was really awesome. Theyre a great complement to Fanfarlo. Fanfarlo is already playing Webster Hall in NYC, soon enough Im sure theyll be playing 9:30 Club :)

freelance whales are opening this show. not a huge fan of either, but wouldn't be surprised if one or both were headlining 930 or at least BC within a year or two. for those that like to get in on the ground floor…

listen to phish festival 8 live, the entire thing, starting friday at 10 pm, on sirius's jam on channel 17. nice. and the album is . . . for some reason "thriller" is now listed first in the selection left not dead, but i think i would rather it be exile on main street.
you get phish tickets for the new tour dates?? the charlottesville one sold out fast. Hippys galore ;D
charlottesville did indeed, but it was considered a "golden ticket" venue to shoot for, for some reason. i got lower level after being denied floor . . . but am still very happy. i wonder if the whole girl gone missing from the metallica show will give a "black eye" to this whole, new charlottesville music scene?
yeah that crap with that missing girl sucks. Seems like she just completely vanished. on a lighter note I heard the metallica show was pretty good. Didn't get tickets for phish and didn't realize they were on sale till later in the day. Should be a decent show ;D

Ha! That's not saying much!! VFest had a shit bill as well! I enjoyed Weezer's set but they make it really hard on their fans by releasing shit music… :(

The groups you mention were never ever good. Weezer was.
Weezer has slowly declined since their debut album a decade and a half ago.

Slowly declined? That decline was really steep and it started right after Pinkerton.
You can start out as a decent band and end up in a pile with the worst bands ever. In Weezer's case (studio-wise), I think they've gotten to a point where the shit outweighs the goods.
I smell a new thread…
Back to the topic at hand:
Raekwon 12/15!
His has been the only hip-hop album I really got into this year.

I've been rocking that Khan Jamal album from '72, Drumdance to the Motherland a lot recently. Its made its way on to a couple mixes I've been pushing to friends. I'd like to hit up that show. Bossa seems like its having some decent shit recently. I wanted to see Dan Higgs there in August or September but couldn't get my shit together.
my bandmate in prv trio and chromatic mysteries – ed ricart – is responsible for booking cool shit at bossa. and jeff bagato is now doing his once-a-month series electric possible there, too. i've recently become friends with khan in philly and am trying to get him gigs around the northeast as i think he is one of the most brilliant vibraphonists ever. in a just world, he'd be getting paid thousands and playing theatres.
drumdance to the motherland is one of my favorite recordings of all-time, and i'm super excited to play with khan. the kohoutek percussion ensemble will feature nathan bowles of pelt/spiral joy band/black twigs/jack rose and john howard of hat city intuitive/plums, and possibly khan on vibes.

Agreed. Girl Talk is the soundtrack to some dude squatting on my face and shitting a link into my eager mouth… if that's what you're into.
Girl Talk > Weezer (and i generally loathe mashups)
Sorry. Saw a bit of Girl Talk and most of Weezer. Weezer kicked their ass.
Girl Talk is not even a band! Some dude jumping around on stage doesn't cut it
Hipsters do not try to rewrite history. Weezer was great. I'm not even a fan.
