So what.

I did the rim to river to rim, non-stop in under eight hours. That's 20+ miles, 10,000 feet of total elevation gain/loss. It was July, AND, I probably smoked half-a-pack along the way.

wuss…
Did you have a 35 pound pack on your back and have to hike most of the uphill with a numb arm due to a scorpion sting, and have to comfort a freaked out scorpion bit wife and without any sleep due to laying on a picnic table all night like I did?

I didn't think so.

So, like I said, go to the Sasquatch Festival. Better bands, prettier country, better weather.
lineup half sucks….ampitheatre shows are kinda weak, and it will probably rain.

I can't stop laughing. Seriously, if you had been stung by a scorpion you wouldn't have gone any further on your "hike".

was that after a gila monster stole your shoes and bit your toes off and you had to walk the whole way on bloody stumps, carrying your cry baby wife the whole way?
It was on the second half of the hike. You hike DOWN into the Canyon and the back UP. The only way to get out of the Canyon was to keep hiking.

Nope, the story has the ring of truth about it to me though: FYI

The majority of scorpions are harmless to humans, although the sting is extremely painful and will require painkilling treatment. The following may be observed in cases of moderate to more serious poisoning:

malaise, sweating, heart palpitations, rise in blood pressure, salivation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. These symptoms should be treated in a similar way to snake bites, and a doctor should be consulted as quickly as possible.

hyperacute (typically allergic) reactions in the form of blurring of consciousness, unconsciousness, convulsions, fall in blood pressure, shock and consequently the threat of death may occur.

Treatment of a scorpion sting

Pain at the site of the sting can sometimes be limited with an ice cube.

Painkilling injections (morphine-based painkiller) may be required and a doctor should therefore be consulted. In the case of more marked symptoms, treatment must be given as for snake bites, and the patient must receive medical treatment as quickly as possible.

There is antiserum for scorpion venom. Treatment must be overseen by a doctor.

There must be other films that make such large dives from gripping interest to complete bollocks, but the mind boggles when attempting to remember them.

The facts about a scorpion bite are true…yet, this personal story could be debated. I lived in AZ for a verrryy long time…
