An evening with the Old 97's
Sat 06/27/09
Recher Theatre, Towson, MD

Tours billed as ?an evening with? usually indicate there will be no support acts before the headliner, but in Old 97?s case two band members ? Rhett Miller and Murry Hammond ? will each do a set featuring their own solo material. (from pollstar)

nothing closer to you, unfortunately.

Isn't Ed the only original member left?
a buddy really digs these guys. I know nothing..Would you say they are more jammy than jazz-fusiony, or a combo…worth seeing?
i'd say they're closer to jazz-fusion than jam-band, but the label i'd attach to them is space rock (with elements of dub and trance too).  they always perform with a light show that turns the entire venue into a big psychedelic screen saver.  i enjoyed their last show at the state, but i enjoy 5-minute effects-ladden guitar solos and trippy keyboards :)

Have you heard his Arthur Lee EP?  Title track is great.

I haven't listened to that in a while.  Great track, you're right. I think I'll throw it on…

Not former Rival Schools, they are alive and kicking. Assuming you caught their brief west coast jaunt when it hit SF, think it was late last year? Ottobar show was great, but patiently waiting for new album and more touring…
I loved the Gorilla Biscuits back in high school.  They were one of the only decent bands to come out of that scene in NY.  Saw them a few times..very fun.  I have that one Rival Schools disk on the Ipod.  That "used for glue" song or whatever it is called is great.
Charlatans UK – Oct 3rd, Black Cat

Nice to see they are still going to tour here. I think that'll be a good venue for them.
The Weezer/Blink show August 30 has been confirmed, but the venue is still TBA.
