I don't get the hate for the Fillmore.  I like it because I can walk there from work. Shame they never have any shows that I want to go to.

Yeah… no one here including hutch has a good argument of why it's a bad venue.

Does the location suck? Maybe
Does the parking suck? It's better than the 930 club
Does the beer suck? Indeed, but so does the 930 club
Is the staff bad? The 930 staff isn't the highly admired staff of the mid 00's, i'll tell you that.
Do the bands they book suck? Absolutely
Is it basically the same as the 930 club in all other aspects? Absolutely

Hutch, or whatever he wants to call himself, touched on this briefly above, but to me acoustics should be one of the top factors for evaluating a live music space.  I've only been to the Fillmore once and the sound was decent.  The 930 club, on the other hand, rarely disappoints in that regard.  Usually, the sound is quite stellar in fact.

Hey I am glad if others like Fillmore Silver Spring! I find it to be noticeably less intimate than 930 at twice capacity, has awful beer (and I am no beer snob), and is too corporate for my taste…but if others like it great

For me they never seem to book acts I want to see and it is far…I will say parking in that big garage is convenient and free

I know the venue’s GM and she has always been nice to me…

When the venue opened I expected to see tons of shows there but they don’t book my kind of shows…I have seen J Geils Band, Frank Turner, The Specials, Fito Paez, and Ziggy Marley there…I think I paid for Fito Paez but the rest were venue comps and Vas kindly hooked me up for Frank Turner

Also I had to get my id scanned there one time and that was a buzzkill for me…just had never had that happen…

I bet I'm the only local who posts on this board who has never seen a show at the Fillmore, the Anthem, the Lube, or the Verizon Center.
