Xiu Xiu - Creepy, Ian Curtis inspired, folk homoerotic death pop jams full of tension, tenderness, pain, and restraint.

â??…Xiu Xiu are typically hated for doing too much, for putting too much of themselves on their records. They're hated for being noisy, for singing melodramatically, for including tons of weird percussion sounds, and for writing bizarre,
specific, over-the-top lyrics. Despite â?? no, because of â?? all those things, Xiu Xiu are, in my opinion, one of rock's most disturbing and compelling acts…â? - Dusted Magazine

Earlier I saw that this show was announced. I was kind of excited about Xiu Xiu playing here but doubt I'll be able to make it to the show. Won't be the first nor the last time that I have to miss a show due to the realities of life.

I think there are some Califone fans here….

ooo! ooo!
Have to say, though, Iota?? I'm a pretty big un-fan of their lack of advance sale tickets. Nothing sucks more than one of the following two scenarios:
1) you get there too late and it's sold out, or
2) you show up at 5pm, wait outside to get in, only to have a total of 25 people at the whole show, and you spend over $30 on beer to keep you occupied through the wait.
I've probably been to Iota 30 times, and neither of your imaginary scenarios have ever occurred.

Califone a sellout? Sorry, don't think so.

Plus scenario #3, you get there and the band that you want to see isnt there, grrrrrrrr. I am not feeling an love at all for iota just now

But Califone are horrible. I cant imagine them selling out.
Actually, there was one sellout at Iota where I didn't get in.

Ryan Adams.

Probably good that I didn't get in.
Detroit Cobras for me. I got to see 3 songs for $15 in the end. After they let us in, after listening outside for 15 minutes. We did get there pretty late, after the White Stripes show.
Well that was of yer own making then…going late! Actually, same thing happened with Adams…we go there after he had started playing

I guess the best advice is to get there during the opening act. Only once have I ever seen it sell out that early…and half the crowd left after the opener (the Hackensaw Boys)

Excellent, thanks for the heads up. I thoroughly enjoyed Heron King Blues.

Unfortunately, a few shows I've been to have sold out prior to the opening act going on. I guess it depends on who and the night of the week. Another unfortunately, the pre-sale option won't be changing anytime soon.
