i've seen RATM perform twice (circa '93 and '95) and those were hands-down the most intense shows i've ever been to. i can't wait to see them at coachella. and i don't hold them responsible for the atrocity that is rap-rock - it was original when they did it. i blame the imitators for dragging it down.

more about the rage reunion:

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE & THE WU-TANG CLAN SET TO â??ROCK THE BELLSâ?

First it was the reunion of the Wu-Tang Clan in 2004. Then it was A Tribe Called Quest later that year. Now, ROCK THE BELLS will make history again as Rage Against The Machine announces their plans to perform three exclusive engagements with the critically acclaimed world-class hip-hop festival this summer. The epic line-up will see Rage Against The Machine join Wu-Tang Clan for two dates on the west coast (August 11–NOS Events Center, San Bernardino, CA, August 18–venue TBA, San Francisco) and for Rock The Bellsâ?? inaugural venture into New York City (July 28– Randallâ??s Island) for their only scheduled appearance on the eastern seaboard this year. The Wu-Tang Clan will support the release of their forthcoming album 8 Diagrams.

Rock The Bells, presented by Guerilla Union since 2003, has established itself as a world-class hip-hop platform by hosting legendary performances by NAS, A Tribe Called Quest, Lauryn Hill, Blackstarr (Talib Kweli and Mos Def), Cuban Linx, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Cypress Hill and Jurassic 5 as well as reuniting Wu-Tang for their last performance with ODB in 2004. This year, the festival will keep in its tradition and showcase the very best the genre has to offer.

â??Itâ??s definitely our fansâ?? dream billing. Itâ??s a tremendous honor to have Rage Against The Machine and Wu-Tang Clan perform together,â? states event organizer Chang Weisberg of Guerilla Union. â??I canâ??t wait to announce the rest of the line-up for Rock the Bells. Itâ??s incredibly important to put some shine on quality Hip Hop. The opportunity to galvanize the social and political consciousness of these groups is undeniable.â?

The complete line-up will be announced March 26th and tickets will go on-sale March 31st at 10:00am. For complete details and updates, log onto www.guerillaunion.com www.rockthebells.net or www.myspace.com/rockthebells.
and for all those who are old enough to rememeber when rage and wu came through dc and T.M> did his remix of jimi, shit was unreal!

cool, owe you a dollar. anyone notice that this is the same date as gore's concert-for-climate-change? so, maybe rawk out all day at gore's thing on the mall (or wherever), then skip out before the chili peppers take the last slot (you know it's inevitable) and slink on over to the BC…

I hope I can get the day off from the factory where I work. Usually they make me work on Saturdays, but I hate it! You know what the problem is? My boss is a dick. That dude wouldnâ??t know Van Halen or (like our Russian friend suggests) Deep fucking Purple if they bit him in the balls. Iâ??m gonna rock on 7/7/07! I donâ??t give a fuch anymore.

kenna is a bad ass bitch, yo!
rhett - thanks for your concern for my rocking outness, much appreciated. i'm sure you've figured out by now that my taste are a tad more mainstream than yours, so while not my dream line-up i could see myself enjoying the foos, snoop and lenny among others. remember, this is supposed to be a global affair so not all those acts will be performing here in DC. you can imagine my forthcoming sadness when they announce that Pharrell, Bon Jovi, Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw won't be playing DC. no, really.

and above all, the gore thing will be free. might be all it's worth, but beats paying $12 to hear yet another bunch of run-of-the-mill "indie" punkers with attitude™…
How're they going to fight global warming with a lineup that HOT.

Sorry.
some help! :D i was wondering if you lovely wonderful people would mind telling me how long, roughly, it took the Arctic Monkeys show to sell out last year? I'm looking forward to seeing them and getting tickets, but as i recollect last time it sold out considerably quick, but is it gonna be like Incubus or something not so extreme but something along those lines? All i know is that since their last show at 930 the buzz around them has only gotten louder. so i just wanna be prepared. i' not driving down to Norfolk to see them again….
Both sound equally uninspiring. I especially don't want to be on the Mall with 100,000 other environmentalists who no doubt will leave garbage littered all over the place.

I think I'll be home with my 2-3 week old child trying to instill some good music taste in her/him. :D

dont bother explaining this to Rhett, sweetie. Rhett is just upset that he can no longer enjoy himself unless he is in a tightly specified environment.

that said, i'll probably be watching the show live via my dsl connection!
Last night, Al Goreâ??s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Goreâ??s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWhâ??more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWhâ??guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year.
Hmmm, and this report just came out? Just after he won the Oscars? Ohhh, did this report come from Fox?? I don't trust them!
